This is a thread to test the level of support for an weekend getaway to the southern islands
Where: St John's Islands
What: Weekend Chalet
When: Sometime in June or July ?
Rustic St John's island, an island retreat even more uncrowded and quiet than pulau ubin .. surrounded by corals and seaweed beds, the island itself has a marine research station, and chalets and holiday bunglows on the other half ....
We can BBQ, fish, play catching ( v ), go snorkelling etc etc .....
I"m interested
Something new from what I usually do
Count me in lah...should be fun.. we go explore the island..
i got 2 1/2 small boxes of solid fuel.. me can bring.
got to warn you guys it's different from the usual chalets lor ...
very spartan ..... and st john's has a "reputation" with regards to the supernatural one ....
u taking ferry from Sentosa??? HOw much is it now huh
I dunno ... I haven't been there for years .....
last weekend I was yakking about the southern islands with old friends at the diving expo ... and that rekindled memories of st john's .....
for the hardier souls I'll post a thread up next time my kakis are canoeing to pulau hantu ....
club 30s spending a couple of nites on an almost deserted island. how many container loads of food shall we bring? hahaha
and also, what catching? sounds kinky, but i like

i camped there last year with about 30 photog...:)
it was fun...and tiring...long long walk..
i got a feeling it will be noisy in the weekend
nah ... day trippers will have to get back by late afternoon ...
at night it's quiet and peaceful ......
canoe!!!!!!!
no TV, no aircon, no warm showers ......
I dunno about the bunglows though ....
actually, no tv, no aircon is fine..
if got enough company.. can chit chat all night..
can go to the jetty catch sotong .......
and can tell ghost stories ....
switch on radio whole night..
have a fire burning..
crowd around..
listen to ghost stories
hair stand up
eeeeeeeeeeee
got safari bed?
itll be a cool break from the norm.
biggest issue is forsee is only the food b beverage available.

i think food will be a major problem? no stores around means must tabao all the food over one the first day.
bring mess tin, solid fuel, water, fork/spoon and 2 packs of instant noodles, 1 museli bar, 1 chocolate bar, 1 packet of milo/tea, some sweets...can last u overnite...
they got stalls near the jetty... so the abovementioned ration good enough for the nite.
i just need food that's soft and moist. (BBQ)
a bed (Chalet)
that's all.
actualy not so bad leh, i passed by a kampong house, the auntie sells coka cola and other drinks...for $1 per can...chilled somemore...not bad lah..
i slept in a tent, then for 1 hour plus, too warm, we sat at the sand and chatted whole nite till 4am.. we started to walk from one end to the far far Chek Jawa...to take sunrise..
carrying my cammy, lens, tripod, food, tent, etc....heavy siah..
walk about 2 hours plus.
