I've had the habit of concoting my own drinks and beverages for a long time, more so since I moved here. I was telling a friend about it when it struck me - why not share the concoctions here so more can enjoy!
Please feel free to share your own concoctions. The only critieria is that they must have your own unique touch to it!
I think a few of you oldies can remember my good ol' Choya cocktails? I've since progressed... not only to even more Choya cocktails, but also to other 'good stuff'!
The Demure Lady's Pina Colada
I think some of you know that I got tipsy on one miserable glass of Pina Colada 17% alcohol. So since I had more than half a bottle of it left, and since I didn't wanna repeat that tipsy episode, I came up with this milder cocktail last night!
Add Sprite and Ice to the glass till it's half-full. Add one bottle of Yakult. Pour pre-mixed Pina Colada to top it all off.
For an equally pleasant variation, add a bit of unsweetened pineapple juice. I think a bit of apple juice might work too. It made my Pina Colada fragrant, and it took out the bitterness of the Rum. Sweet, absolutely pleasing, and mildly toxic... just right for a lady who's keen to keep her composure whilst sipping her Pina Colada. Enjoy!!
More original concoctions to follow!
Japanese Bridegroom + Korean Bride Cocktail
How can I ever abandon my first love, Choya?!
I recently discovered Korean Red Pomegranate Wine, which supposedly has health (and beauty) properties. OK, whatever!
So I thought, why not marry my Choya Ume Wine, which supposedly aids in digestion, with this Korean Red Pommy Wine?
So here goes...
A bit of Choya + A bit of Korean Red Pomegranate Wine and unto this sweet mixture, add one of the following, or a mixture of the following :
-Green Tea / Green Tea with Peach or Lemon or Lychee or any of the Pokka fruity Green Teas;
-Pomegranate Juice or Apple Juice or Apple+Pear Juice or any fruit juices;
-Pop in one preserved plum (suan mei), or if you're feeling like a connoiseur, soak a few plums in boiling water for a few minutes, then squeeze the plums and use the resultant plum juice to add into the cocktail. If you want something not as salty-sour, use the milder Qing Ren Mei; and most importantly...
Sit back and Enjoy!!
Hot Beverages for those rare rainy days in Singapore (and the lovely Winter days in Melbourne) :
"I Love My Berries" Hot Tea
- Prepare a Cup of Lipton's Tea with Cranberry, Raspberry + Strawberry.
And then, either :
- Slice fresh strawberries and leave in a container, sprinkling sugar and a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar over it, mix, and then keep in the refrigerator overnight, and then spoon as much of this as you like into your cooled tea; or
- Pour 100% Raspberry Sauce / Raspberry Cordial into the hot tea and stir to mix and to taste; or
- Add as much Ribena as you want into the hot tea; or
- Stir in a few teaspoons of strawberry jam and stir to mix.
Marma-lady
- Prepare a cuppa Lipton's Tea with Lemon / Green Tea with Lemon / Green Tea with Citrus / Green Tea with Mandarin OR, combine any two of the aforementioned teabags to make a nice cuppa or two.
- Stir in a few teaspoons of Korean Citron Tea mixture (which has a jam-like consistency);
Lovely!!
Be Good to Yourself Tea
- Prepare a cuppa Japanese Green Tea or Japanese Green Tea with Roasted Rice or Korean Ginseng Tea.
- Throw in as much dried Goji Berries as you like (the ones you buy from health food shops or organic shops where you can eat straight off the pack as a snack);
Wait for the Goji Berries to become slightly softened.
Play some soft Japanese instrumental music, sit back, and enjoy!!
Nashi-Nashi Tea
- Thinly slice one Nashi Pear (and resist eating up the slices in the meantime! );
- Boil a pot of water, and place nashi pear slices into the pot. Only have enough water to cover the pear slices + a bowl more for evaporation.
- Lower the heat, allow to simmer gently.
- Add in sugar to taste as it simmers.
- When the liquid has reduced and the colour has become more concentrated, turn off the heat.
- At this stage, either pour the Nashi Tea into a cup and enjoy, or throw in a Green Tea bag and allow to steep first before serving.
- If you like mint, just throw in a sprig of mint leaf. (If you don't have mint leaves, just add an imperceptible dollop of Colgate! KIDDING!! )
OMG so much work
If I have some drink concoction, it's done by MPB :P
What I usually drink at home is water or white tea
I'm a creature of habit :P

OK, you're a lucky, pampered pooch! Maybe, one day, when I have my own mate to pamper me, I'll think that all these = too much work too!

Tuna cranberry/strawberry/mango ice blend!
A glass of ice, can of tuna and whatever fruits you like. Put them into the blender and blend them, you may want to add a teaspoon of creamer - depending on personal preferences.
Serve cold!

TUNA ?! Anyone has any good alcoholic brews? Sorry not good with my drinks, except Tie Guan Yin, Crysanthemum, Earl Gray and Lipton/Boh teabags.
Oh and may I know where can I get 'Pina Colada',
sounds like a pretty good ladys' drink; your mix.
Piña Colada is basically pineapple juice, coconut milk and a shot of rum. That's why adding more pineapple juice doesn't really spoil it.
I like my tea only when it's steeped with tea leaves...add a slice of lemon unless it's green or Earl Grey, and voila, it's done.
One of my favourites is this: open a cup of good yoghurt, whisk with teaspoon until it's fluffy, and gulp it down.
1/3 triple sec
200ml peach breezer
100ml cream soda
50ml tonic water...
served with chilled glass or on the rocks...
does guiness with raw egg, ciggy ash, and a 10 cent coin count ? ....
ever since I am back here hoh - liquor all so expensive, so I stop already! But if you really really want to concoct hoh - sprite plus lime cordial. cheapest - aiyah, water, water cheapest!
