Woke up at 6.30 am to pray.
Then I couldn't get back to sleep.
It was a pretty interesting trip, I gotta say..... though the tour guide wasn't really that good. He took us to a few places of interest, and even organized a short trip across the Mekong to Laos.... but he didn't really take the effort to talk to us much during the long van trips.
I'd have organised my own backpacking trip, but I figured that since this is my so-called 'graduation trip', I'd rather not go into the hassle and trouble of booking my own tickets, accomodation, and itinery.
well, as long as you enjoy yourself
i'm watching Nat Geo now.. Singapore is ranked very low somewhere, contributing to overfishing..
i would really like to ask the gabrament and everyone around.. what are we doing to save the planet.. no matter how small we are, we can make an impact...
in this, i wonder about idiocy of taxing the Hybrid cars the same way as the normal cars.. is it because Singapore taxes fuel? hybrids use a lot less... and therefore they get less tax? the hybrids are damned expensive compared to normal cars..
shouldn't they think long term? less tax but less cleaning up and all that?
could it be down to the bottom line? are we that short-sighted?

I thought our gahmen has been very clear on this all the while...they only care about $$$ and nothing else?
Hmm.... hybrid cars.....
I gotta agree that hybrid cars are more environmentally-friendly, but ultimately, it still uses fossil fuels, albeit to a lesser extent.
I once read a scientific article on electric cars. One researcher estimated that even if you converted all the cars in North America to have zero emissions, you will reduce total CO2 emissions by only 20%. The main reason being that you're just shifting the emission of greenhouse gases from car engines to (mainly) coal-fired power plants.
We gotta come up with alternative sources of energy for vehicles. Liquid hydrogen looks promising, but a more economical process for extracting and liquefying it is needed.
20% better than nothing man.
at least start with 20% and work from there
it's actually a heck of a lot more than 20%
the bigger the generator, the more efficient power generation is..
electricity is heck of a lot more efficient than the internal combustion engine...
anyway.. i'm looking at a hybrid the next car i get.. it'll pay itself in fuel savings
in other news.. check out the past which Evanescence doesn't want you to know about..
we all know the band like this
but before they became famous (due mostly to Amy Lee being voted one of the hottest women in rock), they were...
They were a Christian-Rock group
Hmm..... I guess Evanescence had undergone a bit of a 'rebranding' exercise?
By the way.... does Creed count as a Christian rock group?

i dunno.. they never said they were and was signed by a mainstream label..
who knows?
i'm thinking of getting a bicycle...

stay off the pavements

I'm sure kopi isn't one of those morons who rides too fast and expects others to move over on the pavements. And there are other twits who jog on the cycling paths.
The rule is actually tricky to enforce. If cyclists are allowed to use the roads and cycling paths only, that has to include little kids on their wee bicycles as well. Then, as road users, shouldn't they learn the Highway Code? How does one ensure that?
On another topic, people don't say 'thank you' often enough in general. In this case that includes lots of pavement cyclists.

unfortunately there are already way too many. and some pavements are pretty narrow. and don't even get me started on those who speed past pedestrians from BEHIND with no warning whatsoever. and they expect pedestrians to give way to them.
I face these people EVERY single day on the way to and back from work...even along pavements at grange and orchard road. they are a bloody hazard to anyone on foot. you can also see them zig zagging amongst a crowd, very dangerous behaviour.
my bicycle is only for parks, hahaha~
from Changi Village to East Coast.

oh, thats good.
the issue of cyclists on pavements is a very sore spot for me
i remember last time when i used to cycle alot, i don't use pavements much. i'm normally on the double yellow line.
because pedestrians always block the way, then we have to slow down and go round them. might as well take the road and have a smooth journey.
but when a bus drives past, u can feel the vibrations.

well, predestrians have every right to block the way. pavements are not for bicycles
and double yellow lines are damned dangerous for cyclists
end of the day, singapore does not have a cyclist friendly road system unlike some other countries
