I like the part where poor Daniel stood in front of the class, looking so proud of himself and eager to share his knowledge of China!

Not particularly leh! In fact, a lot of Aussies didn't catch the Nasi Goreng bit because they didn't know what it was at all. Most of them would just call it Indonesian Fried Rice or something like that.
BTW, there's something here called "Singapore Noodles" that's really got nothing to do with Singapore at all! It's just plain bee hoon tossed with vegetables, meat, etc in some mild curry sauce.

Never heard of Singapore noodles, the closest I know is sin chew bee hoon, but there's no curry sauce in it.

I never heard of it... until I came to Melbourne! The noodles have absolutely nothing to do with Singapore and in fact, it's not really nice. I find it insulting that it's named after Singapore, really, esp since we have such good food!
I love the ad Thanks for sharing

In Australia, all the Chinese food don't taste like Chinese food, even though they were cooked by the Chinese immigrants.

how nice can hor fun and ba chor mee taste in other countries?
Actually, I find that a lot of restaurants here use bottled sauce. So, no matter which restaurant you go to, the food ends up tasting more or less the same. Very rarely can you find a restaurant that actually bothers to prepare its food from scratch.
It's not cheap eating out too. We end up paying a lot for yucky or humdrum food.

Rojak? Had it 1.5 months ago. Got a nice bottle of authentic ready-made rojak sauce from Malaysia in the fridge.
Roti prata? Had it erm... week before last with curry.
Char Kway Tiao? Probably had it 2.5 months ago.
Oyster Omelette? Let's see, when was that... 2 months ago?
Malaysian / Singapore food can be found here. Otherwise, I can cook it myself. Not bad, eh?
Xiao Long Bao, Guo Tie, La Mian... had them all last week.
Teriyaki Chicken Don, Korean KimChi Beef, Kim Chi Rice, and Chilli Chicken, all had them a few times last week.
Also had Laksa Yong Tau Fu last week. And the stall has a yong tau fu display where you get to pick and choose, just like back home!
I am not deprived in any way.

Close friends I keep in touch regularly via sms / msn / facebook / phone.
Mom I call regularly and yak a lot to her. Grandma I call her now and then. No other relatives that I die-die must talk to.
As for companionship, things change... I've got new buddies here liao. Whilst they cannot replace my old buddies back home, I now have mates to go out with, have fun, share a meal, do girlfriend stuff with, etc.
On top of that, my need for companionship is not that high, as in, I can be solitary for ages one.
Any more ammunition?
