Originally posted by jetta:Piangz, I think it's slowly catching on. Soon, retailers here will be charging for plastic bags. The cheap ones sold now aren't durable or pretty for that matter. he's right...
but get your brand trademarked too

Borders is already charging for plastic bags here! I think it's 5 cents... or 15 cents?? ... each bag! The Aussie govt is considering getting all retailers to discourage the use of plastic bags and to impose a charge for every plastic bag customers ask for.
Sometimes, it's impractical. If you're buying frozen goods, or raw food, or stuff that's greasy and has a tendency to stain everything else in your bag, then it's necessary that plastic bags are used.

Here you go..
Yeah the shopping bags here are dull looking
I'm cheap so I don't buy them
I just recycle those cloth bags retailers give these days

do they sell yakult or vitagen in US??
Only this year. When we saw the tv commercial for Yakult the kids and I were like this: . But you know, even in Japan, the container is much smaller than the ones in Singapore. And unlike Singapore's, the ones in Japan and here only come in one flavour. I love my grape flavoured Yakult and Vitagen.

My Singaporean friend was so thrilled with the nice ones we get here that she ended up buying a few. She said that back in Singapore, they look very dull.
actually, i prefer a small trolley
they would be useful for groceries shopping, but the ones i saw are just too flimsy!
if i am buying other stuff, i rather get the retailers to give me plastic bags, especially if they are oily stuff like bak zhang or paper bags..if they are branded stuff
I like free plastic bags to take out my trash in
Not like I throw away the plastic bags I get without using them first

Alamak! I shall go on the look-out for nice ones and post them to you! I've been going around for months wondering what in the world to get you.
i use the non-woven bags i bought from the supermarket...
the Homer Simpson bag sis sent me is stashed somewhere in the room (therefore lost forever)
thing is, i tell the checkout people i don't want bags, the majority of them stare at me as if i was some kind of whackjob.. i think we really need a change here in Singapore where people just keep asking for heck of a lot of plastic bags..
hell! even the PRC has banned them (maybe the plastic bags have been diverted to food production, car manufacture and building materials)

I REMEMBER WHAT I DREAMT OF LAST NIGHT LIAO!!!
I dreamt that I returned to Singapore for a visit, and wanted to head straight to Holland V to check it out after putting down my luggage. Mom said, "Now, you must take a bus to Holland V!" So I did.
Biangz... I dreamt that they built a basement for the Holland Road shopping centre and it was really large and spacious so cars and buses can drive straight in and then turn out!!! I dreamt that Cold Storage moved to the basement and became huge and the old Holland Road Shopping Centre became spanking new like Causeway Point!
Pai seh... I think I must be very deprived because my dream was all about the comfy public transport back home and shopping.

You can order embroidered tags online and sew them onto your tote bags. You know how tote bags always have some sorta brand tag at a bottom seam? Obsolete enough, yet conspicuous enough... doh...
