Mas Selamat escape: Fence is now fixed
I REFER to Monday's letter, 'Mas Selamat's escape: Why no word on fence?' by Mr Kang Choon Tian.
The Committee of Inquiry did observe there was a weakness at a point where the fence converged with a covered walkway structure at Whitley Road Detention Centre. The Minister for Home Affairs had disclosed this finding in his parliamentary statement on April 21 and also said corrective actions such as raising the height of the perimeter fence were in progress.
These corrective actions have since been completed.
