Thailand have a lot of potential and I think they are actually a bigger threat than Malaysia who is always sleeping but the only reason why Thailand is not charging ahead is because of their endless political reforms; it's always switching between military and economic :P

you know my relative in Johor whole day ranting abt the price diff bet imported items and local items... like CQYD noodles, so nice but in M'sia one packet is RM7 leh... somemore 1 box of OSK Tea cost RM23 leh

I don't think that's THE reason why we charged ahead.
If our neighbours are disorganised, and we don't have our act together, we won't be able to charge ahead anyways.
If the rabbit takes a long nap, and the tortoise, instead of plodding on, decides to take a nap too, then the tortoise wouldn't have won the race in the end.

My relatives are sending their kids here to study as well.My customers are complaining that SG is poaching all their talents because of their useless government
I think it's true. A lot of top surgeons and doctors are all Malaysians and a lot of them convert their PR to citizen

We had to charge ahead if not we will be bullied and the other countries will try to make us their ownLike when we don't have our own army, Indonesia tried to kick us around
And now these young punks start crying about NS and bitching why guys have to do it and not girls.

We should all welcome foreign talent into Singapore. If we can attract professionals, it not only benefits our economy, it raises our status on the international arena as well.
Sometimes, to understand state affairs, we have to put ourselves in their shoes, pretend that we are the top gun running the nation, what strategies will ensure our survival and prosperity?
I think after my course, I'll read Machievelli's "The Prince".

Hanor! I had that thought when I read their rants in this thread about PR's getting citizenship.
It was all about escaping NS. I was thinking KNS... I see such a positive transformation in my male friends after NS!
The arrogant, upper middle class snob became more humble.
The clueless, heading nowhere, easygoing dude became more focused.
The sickly-looking pale smurf became more masculine and manly.
I mean, what's bad about learning to respect authority in critical moments? What's awful about realising that one's action has implications on the entire troop and not just oneself? What's horrible about being aware that one's mistakes can have fatal consequences?
KNS... if Singapore ever got into a war situation, I will serve as a Nurse. See all those gay-lo's kpkb'ing really buay tahan!

The difference between the local receptionist and this PRC receptionist
The local receptionist never smiles and when you ask for recommandations she says all are equally good blah blah blah and I got a few bad ones before. She is always extremely curt and doesn't make you feel welcome
Now the PRC receptionist smiles and welcome you warmly. When you ask for recommandations she will tell you all is good but maybe you would like to try this person because she has more clients etc. When it's done, she ask you how is it etc and if there is someone standing outside the shop, she goes out to greet them and explain their packages.
Now tell me if you are an employer who would you wanna hire???????
I tell you the service lvl is Heaven and Earth difference!!!!
And I talked to the PRC girl. She is pretty and intelligent and she has a double degree from (I forgot the uni name she told me) in USA.
I asked her why is she doing this job she said she just finished her studies and as she is still deciding what to do, she took up this job to learn about the business.
SEE EVEN ATTITUDE IS DIFFERENT

Yeah, it's all about the attitude and nothing about the nationality.
I think too many Singaporeans are too cushy. They want to have an easy life without putting in any effort and when they can't, they kpkb.
I mean, if the fuel issue really affects Singaporeans, don't drive lor! Take the public transport to work! It's not as if the public transport system is like Australia's where you have to climb hill, walk long distances and plan your trip the day before to make sure you get places on time.
That's why I say, dump them all in Queensland and see what happens!
