Do you realise how bad peak hour traffic is here? It's horrible, no matter if you drive or take any form of public transport! It's so bad that a lot of Melbournians plan their life to avoid peak hour traffic.
I know my colleagues who drive or take public transport whined recently when the last two days of our course had to be changed to end at 5:30pm because they immediately raised a racket, saying, "Oh noooo!! We have to deal with peak hour traffic!!" I think we're going to all head to the pub on the last two days of the course so that they can all head home AFTER peak hour.
Yeah I remember Nak telling me that our peak our traffic is not as fantastic as Sydney peak hour traffic

I think the one who has to stammer and blush should be him, not you.
I've gone up to people and said things in a matter-of-fact manner before. You do have to prepare yourself psychologically beforehand and rehearse it in your mind a few times before taking a deep breath and saying it out in as diplomatic a manner as you can.
I get to practice this very often in my job because there are patients who will tussle with you over having a shower and/or changing into clean clothes and underwear.

I think peak hour traffic in the major US cities are even more 'colourful'.
I remember a poor friend in LA being stuck in peak hour traffic for FOUR HOURS because not only was it peak hour traffic, someone went berserk and decided to wield a gun whilst holding a female passenger hostage.
Now, that is what peak hour traffic can do to you.
