long term debt
We shouldn't have kids expecting them to look after us when we grow old. That's a very selfish thought since they don't have a choice to be brought into this world.
We should only have kids because we love kids and know that we have the ability to provide for them, love them, to educate them and to nurture them into responsible adults.
Sad fella, you've come to the wrong place to post.
If you want your one night of pleasure, learn to deal with the side effect.
As parents, we definitely love our children. It's just that we sometimes worries on our old age...

It seems like you're the kind of person who likes to think/plan ahead.... perhaps it's not a bad idea to start planning your own retirement. Do some investement etc so you know you don't need anyone or any children to support you.
So who has babies for the sake of getting the Baby Bonus?
Who?

Only an idiot will have babies for the Baby Bonus
The amount they give for Baby Bonus is a big joke

There are actually quite many young people that do that here in Oz. They use their baby bonus to buy big LCD/plasma tv or something else for themselves. So to stop them from doing it, they only get part payment instead of a lump sum from the government nowadays.
to us, baby bonus is reali too little.. gov might as well dun give any..
you guys all want to have kids out of pure luv??

uhh.. what bloody business is it of theirs if you have or do not have children?
wah lau eh! your children or their children?

Ummm.... like what bear said.... it's none of anyone's business if you have kids or not. You're the one who have to pay for everything etc so if you think you can't afford it and you're not ready, you're not ready.
I just turned 31 recently and have been married for nearly 3 years and still no kids.... so what can they do about it? It's my choice and no one has the right to pressure me to have kids!
I know 2 ladies had their sons just to pleased their mil and husbands.. Thank God they finally managed to have baby boys in their late 30s...

Well that is them
I''m not having babies to please anyone and I'll have them when I'm ready
My husband respects my decision and don't force me to have them or plan an 'accident' so that I'll have one and I've been married for over 3 years
My mum and MIL is not saying anything to me except for my dad who drops heavy hints and my relatives who keep asking
But any sane person should not have a child just because someone else wants one. They are not the one carrying the child for 9 mths nor responsible for it when it is born.
I think that is why we have so many stupid and irresponsible parents these days because they have kids when they are not ready!

i think it's because we take a lot of things like these for granted... that we will allow our children to be all they can be without strings, to be all they want to be...
many out there still believe that the whole goal of having children is to support them when they are old...
Many parents also make their kids believe that their only reason to love is to take care of the parents. My husband is a living example. I seriously resent the kind of things the MIL did to create a man who did not grow up.

Evil old people seem to be able to cling on to life for a very long time. I've seen that with my own eyes. >.<"
