No time/energy leh.....the tempo is going up already. Soon we'll be getting SPs to land on our deck for trials.
And the 76mm gun will be firing for the first time later this month. Perhaps this is about the only thing I'm looking forward to, since I spent so much time maintaining it. But I'm not quite looking forward to cleaning it later.

Dealing, dealing with it.
So what's the point of kpkbing about it in SC?
Sometimes I don't understand how these people think. Instead of complaining and heaping abuses and typing wall of texts to defend/protest/whatever, they could just use the time to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life or just earn more $$ what.
Goondus.

there's really no point .... except to pray that you'd have a chance to exercise your voting rights in the next elections ....
I hope a few smart chimpanzees would stand for the opposition ... so I can vote for them ... v

Sounds interesting! But I hear you about the cleaning part. I like shooting as much as anyone else, but hate cleaning the guns after a protracted range session; I can't imagine what it's like to clean a 76mm gun!
Curious: where do RSN vessels go for live-fire training/exercises? Or is that privileged information?
I wonder the coincidence.....M'sia is conducting a major exercise involving many of their ships, including at least 1 LST, and the RMAF.
S'pore on the other hand, we're conducting Ex Top-Deck, an annual major exercise involving firing involving a number of ships.
And both are operating at alarmingly close proximities......and the location? Abeam Horsburg.
It is alarming enough for the officers conducting the brief to tell us to expect lots of M'sian stuff at our area and Flankers over-flying, and not to get too alarm.

I saw gunners and gun techs pulling through a 52 caliber FH2000 howitzer once .....
I never complained about cleaning my rifle after that ...
4 more years and ROC tar bor dun need to serve NS liao... except for e required 3 mth BMT

Easy to visualise.....just like the M16 with its five-piece rod, we also use a up-size 5 piece rod. The difference is you need 2 people to shove the freaking big stick into the barrel, and another guy ties a wad of flanelite to the end in the gun mount.....it's dirty work. Mainteinance is a big headache. But to watch the gun in action is really...WOW. Just a command from the FCS and the gun swings into position. This is a gun that trains and elevates at 60-80deg/s.
For land-targets, it's Pulau Sudong, St John Island.....otherwise its S China Sea.

I knew someone who refused to touch water at all. Survived totally on sugared water. (!)

Spare a thought for the poor chaps manning the lighthouse. For the duration of the exercise, they'll have to put up with shells whizzing by overhead in both directions.

the whole damned country is run like a company
That's disgusting. A lot of plastic could be saved if we drank less bottled water.

Don't under-estimate those people.....the way they drive their boat through the busy straits will give you heart-attack.
In one memorable case, one such boat caused my ship to alter course to avoid a collision and forced us to sound the famous 6 horn-blasts accompanied by a "This is a Republic of Singapore Navy warship.......blah blah" announcment over the PA.
Well, the boat stuck its guns......and won.
talking about guns and stuff, i pity the poor sod who got my BMT rifle...
we were coming back from our summary exercises... i was taken ill just before it and was made to be "enemy simulator"
about 200 blanks later, i didn't relish the thought of cleaning the goddamned thing...
the vehicle forgot our platoon, and we went back to came late.. we didn't have time to clean the thing because the armskote and DO wanted it cleared.. they had a long weekend.. so the PC said to "pour oil inside and send in.. don't care"
so we did..
never saw the rifles again because we all passed out after that

Hopefully the next guy got it before the oil dried up, because if the carbon sticks inside the rifle....
You can curse, you can swear, but you won't be able to get it out.

That observation seems consistent with the explosive growth in the sales of bottled water in this country.
That has to be one of the biggest consumer cons/shams extant in this country now: pull some water out of a hole in the ground, bottle it up, and sell it for a premium to some unsuspecting yuppiefied consumer.
win liaoz
