there are plenty of these lizard around.....never saw these menu but had lots of other curries. unripe bananas, unripe jackfruits, brinjah.....
monitor lizard curry can also be cooked in singapore, one of my Indian Wos during NS knows how to cook it at lim chu kang.
Did you eat this stuff?? The Woodapple?
Most icky fruit I ate there... it's fermented, super hard and has a very strong sourish taste.
I think this is also the fruit that elephants are famous for getting drunk on after eating too much.
The other fruit , on the other hand, that I liked a lot was this fruit: The Beli Fruit or Bael fruit. It is very gooey and supposed to help with digestion. I think it is probably slightly fermented as well because after we ate it, we felt very nice comfortable warmth in our tummies!

That sounds very nice.. but hard to do all at one go unless you have A LO T OF TIME.
Yaaa.. we did the Kakokarom Highway .. that's what I did when I went to Pakistan but we could not get the xin jiang cos of the landslide.
But as we drove past the mountains - we could see the faint paths of the original silk road - and I can imagine eons ago, those caravans, slowly traveling across the miles and miles of empty mountainous arid terrain, finally approaching the kingdoms built in the oasis..
Compared to the more 'citified' parts of the silk road, I think that had a more original feel.
My dream is Trans Siberia or Mongolia~ From Beijing to Russia!
