  ahh.. i have to bring some discs to Tuas tomorrow morning when i go there..

  seems that their laptop finally kicked the bucket...

  get this.. it's a.. Pentium M!

  used to take about 25 minutes to boot up

  i thought they were exaggerating when they said that.. then yesterday, it hung when we were trying to give a presentation..

  so a reboot was in order.. we sent our audience out for refreshments early.. i stood there and waited for the accursed thing for 25 minutes before it was stable enough to open up a 12MB powerpoint file..

  they have moved a new desktop in there.. not too bad.. a core 2 duo with 2GB RAM.. should be okay..

  no man.. rarely plugged into the LAN.. and the LAN is so firewalled to hell and back it's ridiculous...

  imagine.. a laptop with all its USB ports locked up..

  thing is, the idiots who run the tech side has put in a load of shit in there.. a lot of things running like fingerprinting software and god knows what else...

  brand new straight out of the box... not even plugged into the LAN yet... to be put there to run presentations only until they deliver a new laptop...

  we're going to only be running that 12MB powerpoint presentation and playing 2 DVDs.. that's all.. should be fine

  and yes.. EVERYONE'S laptop is like that..

  the others in our section experience that too.. but they're getting their new laptops right now as i type...

  but i guess the new laptops with 2GB RAM and what i think are the new centrinos core 2 duos should be able to do the job

  it will still take more than reasonable times to boot up. Their running to many nonsense protection on them. btw wait till SOE get in. Heard it'll be even worse

  Yeah!  TGIF!!    And good morning, all! 

  I'm soooo thankful that I've completed two awful looooong night shifts and I don't have to think about work again until Tuesday!  Yippeeee!!   

  I think that's the way work was meant to be... give you adequate days off so that when you feel you're about to go postal and kill someone, you get swee-swee few days off work so by the time you return to work again, you feel you can face any crap that gets thrown your way.  I wish instead of working people ragged, all of us can enjoy a more reasonable lifestyle.
