No worries :) Just keeping you all informed in case you are interested.
I think its important for volunteers to do something they have a genuine passion for and if possible to be able to commit over a longer term. This way, they can see the growth of the people they are working with... and rather than the 'immediately' short term gratification.. can really feel a sense of achievement.
But everyone is working full time and it isn't easy to do this. so better do a little than nothing at all!

okie ... I've made some phone calls about the idea recently ....
many orgs already have plans, or they hesitate to trust an ad hoc group of people with no track records .....
however .... if you guys like, we might be able to take a bunch of low-income old folks for an outing or something ... in conjunction with one of the CDCs ....

Ok I dun mind that -
okie .... got something concrete planned out ....
we're gonna hitch in with another group of people ... regular volunteers
an over night camp/camp fire thingy for a bunch of underprivileged primary school kids ...
it's not under the auspices of any religious groups .... just a group of people who wants to help, so rest assured ....
the date's tentatively set on 20th to 21st dec, just before christmas ....

Camping o.O why can't it be a trip to the zoo or some other outing to farms etc O.o

there are other stuff to follow up as well ... in january, during the CNY period .... it'd be old folks then ...

Are you planning to organise an overnight camp for the elderlies at the old folks? If so, how are you going to do that? How does it work?

for the elderlies ? ... hell no ! ... lolz .....
for the elderly, it'll be a sort of song and dance sort of thing .......
organize a catered dinner, put up a variety show, sing along sort of thing .... that's on the card for the CNY ....

well, if the idea of tawning overnight doesn't quite appeal, there are still plenty of other things to be done ....
logistics support, etc .....
