Music has always been my passion. To some, its a hobby. But to me, music is an escapade where I can retreat to. I have always sang KARAOKE haha with my relatives since young, but the first time I decided I wanted to take music seriously was when, beileve it or not, i saw the November Rain MTV. I wanted Those PVC tight pants and girls screaming at me when i am singing on stage haha. But I started only seriously writing songs and getting in a band when I was 17, in the first year of polytechnic. Since then, music has accompanied in difficult times, when I fractured my legs, out of action for 4 months and having to "learn" to walk, when I failed my exams, when I faced difficulties with my parents, when I faced disappointments in work and recently when my father passed away. Its amazing the healing power of a voice singing to a simple song on a guitar.
I thank God for the gift of music and so everyone, be thankful you have the gift to be able to play and feel music!

wah so chim~~~ haha but i respect those who took the route of studying music (which i personally do not like). To me studying music makes it a science while I see music an artistic form. Studying music is good however that it forms a basis for comparison for improvements etc But purely my personal opinions~~~

Erm.... no.
I found a pretty comprehensive website offering free online lessons.
I taught myself from there. My progress has been painfully slow, though.
So much musical talent here (except for Fudgie and Ah Bear ) Wah, who knew??

i wished i had taken piano lessons more seriously..
I played the violin since i was 4...concurrently with the piano..both ended after grade 8 exams...then resumed with some woodwind instruments like the clarinet and the trumpet..no exams here though...then moved to exotic balinese instruments like the Kulintang and gamelan..played some marimba too..now honing my musical hobby as a drummer in a band...yeah i played zither and yangqin too last time during primary 6

Damn..the only thing i played during primary school was truant.
I wonder if an ipod constitutes a musical instrument ? ... it plays music doesn't it ? ...
oh ... I almost forgot, know how to toot the car horn as well ...... v
Was sent for organ lessons and we ever had a organ in the house. I was 5 or 6 then.
And when we went broke, no more lessons. Now, I dont even remember how to read the chords, even those 'tau gey' is foriegn to me.
I tried learning it again with a music theory VCD, but still is totally lost.
Am making plans to learn Piano from the basic up.
I bought a guitar and took guitar lessons too.
But my fingers too short and so is my arm, cannot reach properly to press down the strings.
Gave up after the fingers started bleeding and gave the guitar to a friend's husband.
I wanna learn the piano...but i'm thinking of looking for private teachers...so that its faster than those schools...that practically eat your money
I think Yamaha Music Schools offers Adult piano lessons, its one to one teaching using Yamaha's facility.
Private teacher will be good if you actually have a piano at home, or you can really fit thes schedule to go to your teachers home.
A gf of mine is teaching piano. Private. And its her full time job.

Oh cool! I have a piano at home...and its like i checked the piano lessons...its quite ex...and the duration is dependent on "student's performance"...i dun have that time like those young kids...
We should form a Club 30 band.
Our title: The Sound of Food???
I had piano lessons from when I was 7 (I think) till I was about 15. Finished Grade 6 and wished I could've gone further so that I could supplement my income by being a piano teacher now :P
In the meantime, I've been learning guitar on & off since 2006...
Yes, gasband, you are right, music is very therapeutic to the soul indeed :)
