For natalie...he might brave the hantu waters.
Go hantu take lah cost very cheap only........save the $$$$ for a leisure dive.........
What are the chances to see Threshers Shark at Malapascua??? I will be going during X'MAS wor.....
Most me friend say Tioman better............ need 5 dives to get cert leh. Hantu only 4dives......... that means need additional time n transport. think cost will be same le.....
I first got certified in hantu .... in 1998 ....
people claim there's nothing to see there, but back in the pre-land reclaimation days, and before hordes of irresponsible instructors let their rampaging students demolish the corals to rubble, there were a lot of things to see there .... huge heads of anemones with clownfishes, groupers underneath the ledges, patrolling batfishes, a bamboo shark, and the clowning glory, a sea turtle !!!!!! ......(the famous 3 legged one ....), seen it all at hantu before
and I dove the hantu/sudong wreck quite a few times before, good place for wreck dive training, not haunted like the sister's island one ...
I would say, if you can get certified at hantu, you can dive everywhere ... the vis is sometimes pretty bad, and the currents, a little out from the ledge can be disorientating, it's the best place to train fundamentals like navigation (VERY VERY VERY important, a sadly neglected skill nowadays)
and when you finally go for a leisure dive at a place with great vis ... you'll appreciate things so much more ...

currents are a fact of life in the ocean ....
don't worry ... your instructors will tell you how to deal with currents properly ....

don't worry, as far as I know they don't do the open water course at that particular site, and its not a difficult dive anyway. but whatever you do, learn how to use your compass and bring your own safety sausage(learn how to deploy it first).
make your instructor teach you if he/she does not.

ok...if you have this phobia even in a swimming pool, then diving is a pretty bad idea.

it's a whole different world out there ....

please fight the fear under supervision in a pool first, then try snorkelling under supervision in the sea.
don't take an open water course just like that.
Bak la va-- Dun worry.....reason y u have phobia of drowning is because u r not able to breathe in the water. But I am sure your instructor will show you how to use your diving gears to breathe in the water. As long as you got air I am sure you can get over it. :) DIVING IS THE BEST
