  Apart from the pilgrimage in Mecca (and that's only for a few people)... nothing else.

  Hari Raya Haji is a low-key affair in these parts.

  The one in Mecca is the full haj, right? My colleague goes in Oct every year for the umrah. Any particular "festival" in October - I mean why does she pick that month?

  Nopes. No idea. I believe that's her personal choice. In the first place, the Islamic calendar is lunar, meaning that all dates will shift back by 11 days per year - which is why you notice the two Hari Rayas seem to get earlier and earlier each year.

  Otherwise, Umrah can be performed at any time - my parents performed it in June last year.

  Yup, there's 2 Hari Raya Haji this year. One in Jan and now. It's a bit like CNY where it follows the chinese calendar - suns and moons though there's never been 2 CNYs in 1 Gregorian year. Am off to grab a snack. Back tonight.

  Yeah... I agree... weekend is always too short.

  I have just decided to take 2/1 off too so that  I can stay in Phillip Island longer.  I am really looking forward to the Christmas break (25/12 - 04/01).....

  Well clearing leave from 29 to 31 Dec so i have like 6 days off from work again.... Time passes by too fast when u are slacking and too slow when you are working =/
