Tare, you should reconsider wearing heels. I know it looks sexy and all, but unless you plan on sitting more than walking, they are not only uncomfortable, prolonged wearing of heels will eventually give the Podiatrist lots of repeat business.
You can also blow out your knee joints and hip joints wearing heels.

After some interesting tack pins and staples ended up at the bottom of my thankfully very thick slippers. i never tried to walk barefoot on carpet office floor ever again.
Thats why I always have mules to wear in the office.

Very scary.
I really don't dare to go around barefoot except at home.

tare...why not keep a pair of sandals/slippers in the office? that way you wont run into pins and staples (touch wood, i haven't been that unfortunate to do so). yeah, heels and stillettos are great - absolutely love them. which is why i don't have that many flats (maybe just 1).
And cannot wear those thin think bedroom slippers, the tacks will still get thru.
One time, at my own cubicle, I was taking off my wet rained on shoes in favour of the slippers, someone called to me and I had to walk out of the cubicle barefooted.
When I got back, felt something in between my toes. Its a upside down big head pin. Thankfully it was just slidded in between the toes. Not in my toes.

That's why I wear platforms when I have to head to the backyard to hang up my laundry at the clothesline.
Firstly, I wanted to not feel the grass / sand and not have any insects / spiders crawl onto my feet!
Secondly, and most importantly, I do not want any discarded syringes or broken glass from wine / beer bottles to pierce my foot.
But hmm... I actually like my platforms. They aren't ridiculously high but they are high enough. And they are surprisingly comfortable to walk around in too! And I feel so safe when I'm walking around in them.
I once accidentally wore my kitschy-looking pink beaded platforms to Honeymousey's house for my surprise birthday party. I wore an auntie-looking tee and wore specs because I wanted to do a bit of grilling but I regret it cause darnit... I looked soooooo ... suah teng like that!

Not flat-flat's. I have slippers that are flat as, but I can't tahan them either and my feet hurt too.
A little wee bit of elevation is good. I think having good sole support is paramount.
Wow... I finished 1/4 of a watermelon in less than a day!! Lugged it home from Cole's last evening and just ate the last of it about half an hour ago.
This is the perfect weather for Watermelon though! Watermelon, Smoothies, Gelati, Ice Cream Sundaes, Popsicles... Yummy!!

wahahahaha i'm not the only weird one!!! :P
You are not the only weird one.
I wear high heel boots last time when I was doing ops. (not the surgery kind). Can run after people some more, can slide down grassy slopes near the drain and keep chasing.
Maybe its the dance training, I can run with my toes, but cannot walk slowly thru those carpark slabs that allows grass to grow in little pockets in them.
hmm.... 5 pairs nia.
Sigh....just checked my crocs and found the Disney Land Cayman is too big a size for me.
And strange that my normal mary janes is smaller then the size 6 disneyland mary jane.
Dam sianz......need to adjust my collection to become 9 piece of crocs.
