Stop the traffic

Yesterday we had a guest speaker at the church to talk about Human Trafficking.
Have a look at the website and see what you can do to stop human trafficking. It's getting worse every minute and I am sure we all can play a part to stop this.

thing is this.. people in the countries the people are trafficked to can't stop it except to arrest the runners and the illegals... and it's already a bit too late..
those traffickers are taking advantage of corruption, non-existent laws, weak enforcement, overstretched police and more to do their trafficking...
worse, they are pillars in their own society who look at these asswipes as heroes, "helping" the poverty strickened desperate people to "get a better life"

I suppose I would too, if I were born into some third world shit hole instead of singapore.
and it's never gonna stop, until there's a more equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities across the world ...
I remember this analogy from an issue of national geographic on this very topic:
"now if the west is a shinning beacon of light in the darkness, then all the birds of the night are gonna ever flock towards it ....
the only solution ? to make the light shine brighter, to over come the areas of darkness, make the light shine everywhere ..... "

I was chatting about singapore being listed as one of the guilty parties in women trafficking in some UN thingy to a group of my friends some time ago, who were great lup sup bar goers ....
they laughed outright when I asked if those girls were "cocered " into working at those places ....
according to them, most of them came in here by themselves, willingly, even flying themselves in here on social visas before seeking work at those lup sup bars ....
thing is ... say they were raided and caught .... they would be found guilty of working in an "illegal" trade, and also in contravention of their visa terms, neh ? ....
so ... to get themselves off the hook, they'd come up with some sop story about how they were conned or forced into coming to singapore, being forced to work as a hostess or a pro etc ....

its no longer the days where girls needs to be coerced into prostitution and bar hostess thingy.
and no lah, they only say they being coerced to the customers.
If its to a police officer, will be a different story.

yeah.. again, it's over there..with the lack of political will and corruption over there, we can't do much other than list the people responsible in the Interpol.. thing is, we don't even know who are the people responsible...
then there is institutionalised ones.. like that bastard Saudi judge who refused to grant a divorce and forced the 9 year-old girl to go back to the 57 year-old bastard who bought her... you can't stop shit like that if the bloody country will fight tooth and nail to maintain it..

This is actually what I am talking about. Not adults who chose to be sold but kids. usually they target kids of 12 yo (average). These kids are sold to slavery, prostitution and even for organ parts. Imagine having your kids kidnapped and sold... -
the solution is easy. start a civil war within the source country. suddenly child soldiers will be in demand and they wont be trafficking them to other countries anymore.

that depends on where ....
at other places civil war means they'll start exporting refugees, terrorists and drugs in even greater numbers ....

that doesn't make sense at all, why would the hookers say they are being coerced to customers ? ... that's like the ulitmate turn off isn't it ? ....
or maybe one of those intrepid UN number cruncher or dirt digging reporter from the NYT or some other rag goes under cover with a notebook and camera bag at orchard towers and interview the ladies at crazy horse ? ...

Its the age old ploy lah.If its customer, u seek help from customers, customer want to act hero, will bring out the girl and support her the rest of her life.
While she keeps her bf and family alive and happy thru the finances that the customer gives.
Its about pantering to the desire of males with a ego.

Agree, be it boy or girl.But as one american reporter say it. The kids are like standing outside the foreign country army camps and selling themselves for USD$1/- for sex.
They are there because they are hungry.
If we can eliminate hunger and poverty. Then there wouldnt be any need for such services.
