Inspired by a discussion in the daytime crapbox.
Give examples of really dumb things that you've personally seen interviewees (be it job interviews, school application interviews, etc) say.
I'll start with one: for my last vacation job as a visitor relations staff at Sentosa, I was in a mass interview with a few other applicants. We were asked this question: 'Tell us about an interesting incident during your previous job.'
One smart aleck said: 'In my previous job as a cinema usher, I found an expensive handphone on a cinema seat. I kept the handphone for myself.'
Needless to say, all the applicants were hired except for the smart aleck.
wad was ur answer?
I was told not to reveal too much about my medical history, even if it's an isolated episode. =X

I can't remember.
But I certainly didn't give the impression that I couldn't be trusted to not kapo customers' lost belongings.
Not sure if it's a bad answer, but to the question of why did I apply for the job:
I answered that I didn't see a reason not to apply. It was a matter of why not, the job looked interesting and the organisation seemed to be good by accounts.
That seems to be a reply that a person with no eq would give in an interview leh...

should be no brain LOL
truly dumb things to say:
that you quit your last job because you found it too tough
that you bypassed your direct boss to complain to higher ups that you were unhappy in your last job
that you got your previous jobs through connections
that you refused to do anything you found too difficult in your previous job
i've learnt that the truth is something which you must not say...
interviews, like appraisals, are where you lie through your teeth...

I certainly omitted the parts about me being incredibly lazy and allergic to hard work
i'm gonna get in bed with all the female staff, 18 to 30 years of age, less than 55kg, 19 BMI < 22.

Well I don't lie during interviews
I don't tell them the whole story :P
for my current job i told them about my mcdonalds history, i told them i work from 2005 to 2008, from the look of it, as if i work for 3 years plus but actually, is from late 2005 and early 2008 so actually i work for 2 years only lols
and the reason i gave why i left was because i need to concentrate on my O's but actually it was because i quarrel with my manager that day and left and the pay is way too low lol
On my first day (a test to see will they hire you or not), i was acting super hard working and do some stunts... And they manager was like "wow you really got job experience and none of my crews can do that"...
and i got that job easily haha

For intereviews I really dont like, but trying to sound truthful:
1) Well, hoping to start a family soon.
2) I dont like crappy bosses that breaths down my neck.
3) I dislike taking minutes of meeting, because everyone has different ideas of how they want the minutes.
4) Likes using instant messengers at work.

Well you hope not to get the job that is why you are answering that way
Sad to say the 'starting family soon' is the thing that makes most employers don't employ you
Just like you go for scholarships interviews.... of course you apply because there's money for you
But when they asked why I applied for the scholarship, I just told them I look at it as a job application, and told them it was to ensure that I have a job right after graduation so that I can concentrate on my studies.
And when they asked why I have no CCAs in NUS (because I was reluctant and lazy to particpate), I replied that my CCA was giving tuition, and in so doing, I will not hv much time for any CCA. I will only join a CCA if I'm absolutely sure I can commit to it, and since I think I cannot commit, I wouldn't want to join one. There's no point joining a CCA just for the sake of joining and having it on your resume.
"Do you guys do drug tests?"

Say that to a CNB recruiter, and the answer will be a happy Yes!
You can go do it more often.
The hoping to start a family soon, or the "Actually.....I am pregnant." portion works like a charm.
What makes you apply for a job at this company?
Oh..my dad's a major shareholder here..
Dont think that works.
Friends with such fathers always has no problem securing their jobs. Even without Papa arranging his positions.
