I finished reading a book last night and one early this morning.
Somewhere in the middle of the book, I started to feel that it was much ado over nothing, well, not that you can technically call a diamond necklace 'nothing'. It was honestly quite a chore wading through the book.
The 2nd book...

I think coz I'm such a graphical coward and cannot watch horror and gore movies, I feed my horror and gore 'cravings' by reading.
I just started on ' The Brutal Art' by Jesse Kellerman
Ok I just finished ' The Brutal Art' by Jesse Kellerman
I dun see what is so Brutal about it
Intriguing maybe but Brutal not at all and the ending is so lame. Nothing like his other novels at all -_-"

The Postmaster's Daughter
by Louis Tracy, 1916
If you enjoy mystery/detective stories (like me), then you would know there are probably broadly classified about 5 different types of detectives.
You have the Holmes type: intense, no sense of humour, usually offset by his intellectual inferior - poor watson.
The Hercule Poirot type: smart alecky, quick witted, physically not macho.
The Film Noir type: The original gritty, brawny P.I. , smokes like a chimney - usually suave but have commitment issues. Limited Wardrobe (else why do they always wear suede hats and trench coats?).
The Teenage type: Nancy Drew, Fatty, Hardy Boys
The Social Misfit Type: Deathnote Fellow, Curious Incident of Dog in Midnight
Some are a combination of more than one type.
So in this story, the detectives belong to the Hercule Poirot type - funny and witty.
So the ending of the story doesn't really tie up all that well, but oh well, its pulp fiction and pretty enjoyable reading if only for the parts where Detective Furneaux and Winter feature.
Anyway it's free. so download it at the link above.
