for the music lovers.
i missed the jazz performances during the weekend, missed the funk ones yesterday
so i went for the ska ones today.
up first were "Copy Machines" from Korea. high energy performance by them with funny jokes in between! I arrived late for their perfomance so i was just shooting from far.
before the last song, the singer said “Please buy our CDs if you like our songs, because we are very poor. people say the poor people are poor, but actually artists are poorer!”
out came sheik haikel and his wife. blah blah blah…. to introduce a singapore ska band called “the sallys” and i quote “the best ska band in singapore”.
honestly, no.
the crowd they pulled were the kind i don’t want to be around with at all. so it kinda spoilt my mood for this band.
self high
aside from the first 2 songs, the rest were quite blah after a while. no showmanship either, typical singaporean band. i packed up and went indoors where i could get away from the irritating younger crowd.
surprise, surprise, “Couple” was playing. they are a band from Malaysia, not bad at all.
too bad the whole place was so red, i didn’t bother to adjust the white balance so i’ll play cheat and swap the images to black n white!
self high at the back
that’s all for the night! i would love to see the korean band again.
i didn't take wider photos because my aim for this trip is just portraits of the musicians.
