The Nosebleed Section (It's not what you think it is!!)

Ok....pictures will follow later. This is an overdue post.
On Sat, 5 of us (Me, LF, 7-11, Fatum & VK) went to JB to eat the "infamous" duck that induced a nosebleed from VK. It was an impromotu last min thing as 7-11 was busy and had a craving for it.
And me despite my sprained back, decided to hobble along since I have nothing better to do at home anyway :(
I shall leave out the shopping bit but we got lost trying to find the place. LOL It was a day where we spent lots of time driving around in circles but I have to say it's worth it
The "restaurant" was this bungalow with a few tables. There is this shed with a giant pit on the floor covered with soil. I think the pit for cooking the duck is 5' x 8' in size
The "Begger" Duck
Silky soft flesh, moist and juicy from being slowly baked in the ground. The juice is solid but if you're too 'heaty' or unwell...I don't think you can eat it because all 5 of us got "high" from the herbs used! It's really THAT potent!!!Btw, all of us agreed that 1 duck is not enough!!!
Stir-Fried Sweet Potato Leaves
We all agreed that it would be better with belachan. The leaves were a tad old but it was very well stir-fried. There was a 'wok' flavour to the leaves.
Fried Tung Hoong
Nicely fried with good wok flavour. It's very tasty but then again I might be bias coz I love to eat Tung Hoong
Melon Soup
The kind I like where the melon is hollowed and steamed for the soup. It's really pure melon essence!!!And I forgot to take pics of the Melon Soup.....but here is a picture of the Achar we ate as a starter :P
Btw I think the next time we go again we need to try the pork stomach version!!
Damage: RM 90+ (They forgot to charge us for the beers too)
This is not the end of it. Right after dinner we walked to the Malay eatery (kinda like a food court) to feast on ice-kachang and satay

i won't be able to eat the duck then....haha. i don't even know how many times my nose has bled every since i've gotten here...=\. tung hoon is glass noodles right?? if it is, then i love that stuff too!!

Its probably because we started with at least a bottle of beer before we start on the duck.
Therefore, my nosebleed was prevented. Got tau liang first liao.
Fatum probably was too excited after errmm.....some exercise, therefore......errrm.....he bled.
The malay hawker centre is also very brightly decorated and we had steamed peanuts, ABCs and satays. Noen of us tried the shisha though.

. Must admit the duck is indeed potent. My face flush red immediately after the meal and i thought it was the beer. (only 2 glasses)Duck was good but can't say for the rest. Other other menu that was not on our table looks inviting with just the names. Pig stomach....Mutton....Pig trotter.....I don;t mind the next time but definitely cut down the numbers of U-turn

shopping...
i bought 10 beetroot, 6 chinese pears, 5 green pears, 1 big yellow bowling-ball lookalike melon, 4 mangoes, 2 jars of ginger and plum mixtures thingy, 1 muslin bags (for tea), 2 pretz thingy, and..what else huh..
oh yah, we had green tea ice cream and tea eggs too..

And fattum, I found the pedigree big can of errmmmm doggie can meat at Sheng Shiong Supermarket in Bedok at $3.70 a can. So errrm.......

Big thanks to 7-11 for driving us around, and his patience for getting lost so many times, and for turning back to my house after I realized I ended up with pinky's korean jars instead of dog food ....
I think it was the short jog up and down the road that did it .... I started sweating buckets and lo ! ... my nose started bleeding ...
next time, we'll order the duck, the chicken and the pig stomach ....

actually the losing of way is a blessing.
we saw the big pond for fishing, the cemetry, many times danga bay, lut lut stalls, and the big park where i took pics of the flora fest parade.....
