Surely you're at least looking forward to the PAP's "Even More Good Years" speech that will be the highlight of the NDP?

I haven't been back for a few years. I hear the weather has gotten alot hotter there. I get the same here except it's not humid so you really don't perspire when you're outdoors, which is good.

Friday night in SG. I would imagine most of the regulars here are out painting the town red.

I would love to visit my old stomping grounds - if they're still there. haha

We've been experiencing some very Singapore-like weather here these past few days: temps in the 80s with humidity over 80%. My a/c at home has been running almost constantly.

Good Lord! 80%??? You poor thing. I'm very cheap when it comes to AC use. Utilities are expensive here and I dread that monthly bill. Have you put serious thought into relocating to Seattle? My family and I talk about that issue sometimes. It would be nice to be close to family for a change, after living sans relatives for so long. I'm looking forward to heading up for the annual extended family Christmas this December. I'm just not looking forward to that awfully long drive.

Given the pace of development there, that will be highly unlikely. The SG of the present bears little if any resemblance to the SG I knew growing up.

Fatum keeps reminding me but he never fails to ask me to return to life there. haha. Sometimes I wonder about the 'what if's' you know?

Singapore has went on ahead too fast
Anyway GE plans to invest in Singapore over water technology

It was actually 88% this morning. I was perspiring quite a bit on the walk from the bus stop to the office.
I still intend to relocate to Seattle sometime in the future, perhaps closer to retirement. 19 years of winters here have taken their collective toll on me.
What was your reason again for not wanting to fly to Seattle and rent a car there?
back from meeting with udon .. and the rest ..

Family there keep asking us to relocate. Grandmother's in her mid 80s and she was hoping that we would move back after leaving Japan. We thought that the Navy detailer would let us serve our final duty station in the hubster's home state but we ended up here instead. Grandmother was extremely disappointed, so much so that she wanted to write her congressman. haha!
I cannot fathom how you can tolerate such extreme weather conditions up there. Bracing oneself for the cold is just such a tiring exercise, imho.
Re: trip. When you consider airfare for 4 and a rental car, it gets up there. Every trip we've made up there thus far has always set us back at least $3K, conservatively. Then there are the meals out because no one on both sides of the family likes to cook.
Back...I think I had a very strange reaction to the oolong tea I drank earlier in the evening. Perspiration poured down my forehead and torso suddenly and my hands started trembling. A chok-load of food has calmed everything down somewhat.
