Oi oi, peeps! What happened to this thread? Just cause I took a sabbatical, it's dissipated into oblivion!
Anyways, hope that you guys are still into the reading habit! Now that I've changed workplaces and am slammed with long commutes (2 hours both ways -> 4-hr commute every workday!), I bury my face in a book / mag on the long journey.
So... here's my list of books I've read from my disappearance till now...
- A Lion Called Christian, Anthony Burke & John Randall;
- The School of Essential Ingredients, Erica Bauermeister;
- Don't Try This At Home, A compilation of stories from famous Chefs, edited by Kimberly Witherspoon & Andrew Friedman
I struggled to read "Vaccine : The Controversial Story of Medicine's Greatest Lifesaver" by Arthur Allen, a whooping 400+ page non-fiction by an investigative journalist, and after 110+ pages, decided that I need to break the drudgery and embarked on "Personality : What Makes You the Way You Are" by Daniel Nettle. I've decided what works best for me is to juggle a few books at the same time, like I used to do in my teenage years, and so, in that line of thought, I started on "The Bounce Back Book" by Karen Salmansohn as well.
So, what have you read, what are you reading, and what are your reading habits like?
I have read ...
Janet Evanovic - Stephanie Plum Series until part 10 ..
Robin Cook - Toxin, Harmful Intent, Chromosome 6, Vital Signs etc
Nora Roberts - Time & Again
Just finished this......
Solid stuff.
Unfortunately, too much emphasis was placed on the manhunt instead of the rise of Pablo, which I thought was more interesting..... but then again, it's a Mark Bowden book...

'Everyday Zen' by Charlotte Joko Beck.
'Everyday Zen' by Charlotte Joko Beck.
Just read JPod by Douglas Coupland - It is a good read. Humourous and sharply written. I thought he captured contemporary working life quite well.
Then I read The Ladies of Grace Adieu by Susanna Clarke. It is set in the same universe as her last book, Strange and Norrell. Good read if you are into faeries and magick.
Currently reading Downtown by Ed Mcbain. I've only recently discovered Ed McBain even though he has written about 50 books already. He is a pioneer of police procedural fiction and I really like the fast pacing of his books. All in all, I am a recent convert and will be looking out for more of his books.
