well .... the opposition may be mostly lunatics ... but at least they'll ask a lot of questions .......
better than treating us like idiots right now .......
they are not addressing the discontent of the people directly .... and every single day .... we can see that we are being overrun ..... with migrant foreign peasants everywhere, on the bus, on the train, in the hawker centres, right next door .....
you noticed something ? ... everytime I watch channel 8 news, whenever they interview someone on the street for soundbites, they'll invariably end up with an ah tiong or two ..... every single time ..... is this still singapore ? ....

this should be used during the next elections when the politicians from either side ask us anything

Really, I fail to see their relevance at all. It seems that their entire mandate is based on that little article in the Consitution about Malays being the indigenuous people of Singapore.
If they really were agitating for Malay rights, then they'd be doing things like fighting for fair employment policies, providing bursaries for less well-off Malay families, upgrading courses for lower-skilled Malay workers, that sort of thing.....
But I haven't heard them do any of that sort.
Heck, I knew that PKMS existed (I walk past their building regularly), but I always thought it was just some little Malay writers' organization or something....
IMO therein lies the dilemma of politics.
Most of us put our stomachs before the higher moral ground arguments. And that's how PAP managed to stay on so long....through economic legitimacy given by the people.
And once the stomach is filled, its only natural that people start looking for alternatives.
But economic legitimacy, though rather important, is only one way to power. Some parties choose to fight it out through other means and seek the people's mandate on issues besides $$...which IMO is commendable....because MIW seems to be obsessed with the economic legitimacy part.
So how?

put them into parliament, and they'll be able to ask questions there ......
politics it s joke now anyways .... so why not put in a few real jokers ... let the powers-that-be know how we feel when they make us out to be fools ? ...
To add injury to insult, the powers-that-be actually created pseudo-oppositions in parliament, bcos of "a lack of dissenting voices".

So how?
so.. do you see now how the MIW do things?
they rant about standards of the Swiss and Japan.. yet, they force the wages of the people down to "stay competitive"
uhh.. the Swiss and the Japanese are not competitive?
so we end up with the highest costs and mediocre wages....
it doesn't add up.. something has to give somewhere...
me? i'll say bugger it.. i'll live my life and the hell with the politicians... the book Seeing.. where the people all cast blank ballots.. has a meaning in there.. politicians work for us.. not the other way around

actually, we put a few of them in before...
and that ended up making the people even more disillusioned with the opposition...
i tell you, the MIW could not have done better at discrediting the opposition when the idiots like Ling How Doong went in there with his "you don't talk cock har!"
Must give some credit to the MIW....for cracking their skulls over how to fit more FTs in S'pore (and convince us of course) and make S'pore an attractive place for companies (by eating our power and voice for increase in wages and then giving us a token one in the form of NTUC).
what if more all the voters put in blank votes
the current garmen maintains in power?

well .... between their disillusion with the goverment, and their disillusion with the opposition, which is greater ? .......
there exist very fundamental fault lines in our society ...... I'm not sure how that can be engineered away by the powers-that-be ....
And if the govt chooses to believe in its myth that the typical S'porean has given up on taking them on and is therefore totally disinterested about what it does, well, its loss ultimately.
The other day I was having my haircut, the barbers were all kpkbing about the price hikes, the govt policies on ERP etc etc and their biggest gripe? The FT hair salons of course.
If anything, pretending that I don't understand a word of dialect allowed me to eavesdrop on sensitive topics, especially when they started talking about LHL's LJ.
The scary thing is that poly grad wages have remained the same or even gone done over the past 2- 3 yrs and every year, the price of HDB flats jump by leaps & bounds! Up till now I still cannot figure how a combined income of 8k can afford a half million flat -_-“
its called...
LOANS!

But if that is the case the banks own yr ass for life
It's not like you are renting out the place and it pays for itself you know
That is exactly what my brother is bitching about coz he finds they can't afford a flat. Was telling my mum that they might as well move back to East Coast and my brother and his wife can stay with them that way if he decides to get married

past 2-3 years ? ..... I reckon it's stayed roughly the same from the time BEFORE I entered poly !!! .....
at that time, a mechanical or electronics grad gets around 1.6 to 1.8k starting ........ at that time, a 3 room flat costs around 110k .... and a plate of chicken rice cost $2 .....
it's still around that figure now ... and going downwards ... cos you can employ a foreign degree holder to do the same job for 1.5k a month ....
one of the agents in my team transacted a 3 room flat last month at marine parade ... for 380k !!!!! ...... and a plate of chicken rice is at least $3 now ....
was hdb started to provide affordable living for singaporeans?
let's say a fella earning 1.5K per month gets married, has a wife who doesn't work
let's say he doesn't use the air con, he doesn't drive.
yes it is affordable, but i think he'd be slaving his life away just to pay everything.
and the gahmen wonders why people don't want to have children
i'm still at a loss of how the hell one of the bloody cleaners who was mentioned in the papers can have four children!
A new Build to Design or is it Order 4 room flat in Simei cost over 400k
And that is in a crappy location
It's really quite scary considering that I bought my 4 rm flat almost 5 yrs ago at
318k -_-" and I'm very near to the MRT & community centre and I don't get the noise too! Oh yeah I'm on a high floor too
Originally posted by av98m:and the gahmen wonders why people don't want to have children
You know with all my pets, it's still cheaper than a child
And I have so many
And they eat premium stuff
Originally posted by av98m:and the gahmen wonders why people don't want to have children
and it hurts more to have a farking whiny child
compared to the past where they went to work and support the family when they are still young
i also notice that most child that gets more love by their parents tend to bo chup them when they grow up
so i shall support caning... not the pathetic "talk to the child" nowadays crap sh*t
