not kopi...but answer is yes. even if you're on your own - which was what i did 2 years back. 2 sides to the city - old and new and separated by a river. on the new side - you can use the BTS (i.e. MRT) but bear in mind their system is not as extensive as sg's - but good enough to get you to all the shopping malls. old side which is mainly the palaces and shrines and temples - take the river taxi. have fun! -
I found the miso really good with tofu, pork belly, mushrooms and egg

BKK, you can go F&E. Use their MTR, easy to travel to places....

if u want to buy snacks and stuff, go to OTK market, located opposite JJ (chatuchak) market.
the stuff there cost a little bit more but its A grade.
but if u buy durians, u are not allowed into the subway

and remember, Thai durians are fleshy as heck but not very fragrant...
remember to eat lots of blood jelly cubes and pig trotters!!

soi cowboy is just across the road from Asok BTS station / Sukhumvhit MRT station
patpong is at silom
honestly, its a waste of time lah... sit around with a beer in your hand looking at charbors / trannys dancing. typical ang moh entertainment.

no strip tease, its different shifts / batch
one batch will go up dance for i dunno how long (i think 3-5 songs), then change to another batch...
one or 2 batches would be nekkid, one or 2 of the batches will have some skimpy clothings on...
its a waste of time lah. i can't believe my friend used to go to bkk and only go to soi cowboy.
it took me more than 2yrs before i decided to go see what is so interesting.
wasted my night drinking one bottle of beer and going back to sleep at the hotel.
i never went back to soi cowboy or patpong again.

this is Singapore.. it's already screwed -
oh forgot to mention... for those who tried calling or smsing me during the earthquakes days at padang.. i managed to retrieve one sms ie zora..(1st one pop) and managed to hit reply before everything was shut down again...
paiseh if i cannot return msg, which i want to :(..
i managed to call parents using a "Raffles hotel alike standard" hotel outside Padang using skype out.... before we reach padang to find our stuff our own broken hotel but standing strong though..the only hotel which did not collapse....
