We never expect this to hit us.. and yes, the best, i fell asleep on the bumpy tour coach and din feel a thingy when the quake struck. My kakis saw pple run out of houses.. :(
here is the aftermath of the quake..
the collapsed school with kids and teachers ....*sob*
this 4 storey mosque was reduced to 1 level.. with pple inside..
Strong wind overturned everything in their way.. strong waves, heavy downpour... it was very scary.. nite falls, the whole place is in darkness.
our hotel, the only hotel there which did not collaspe..
the next morning, we have to crawl in with the security guy, braving thru narrow stairs/corridors, scattered glass, fallen walls, dropped ceiling, dust, wires everywhere in total darkness (we have torch), just to retrieve our suitcase... so dangerous siah...hope it wun collapse when we are taking our suitcase..
i did not take pics of interior ...it was devastating enough :(
I saw dead bodies wrapped and transported. Pple crying at the cemetry while burying their loved ones.. desperation, frustration and hopelessness everywhere..
I wanna cry too..:(
we seek shelter at friend's place, 50 of us squeeze into tiny places and i slept at the car park near the outside gate..:(
we slept at airport at the entrance by the driveway...
by night, the whole place was packed..
Tiger Airway desserted us.. the airport was OPENEd.
The counter light switched on, computer on, but no one attending it..
on friday, I caught hold of the counter girl sneaking away from the counter again and from us.. left the counter unattended again..
asked her question, she din bother to answer us properly and run away from us.
who said airport not in operation..
after the quake, it was re-opened again!!
and AirAsia gave us hope, we bought tics to KL and then fly back to Sin.. safely!!
AirAsia did so well in this crisis.. shame on our carrier..!!

It was a great shock to read the devastation of Padang, one of my favourite destination for ikan belado.
Upon reading your journey, I'm totally disheartens that our country carrier Tiger Airways refuse to help her passengers. How can CAAS desserted Singaporeans in such dire situation and Tiger Airways being a subsidary fo our national carrier SIA act so irresponsibly.
I think you deserve an answer from our goverment, no so much just the cost but the helplessness knowing our government is forsaking our citizens.
Is our Singapore government so worthless and hopeless today?

When our fellow citizens are in troubles, our govt are supposed to help.
I remembered clearly how the govt airlifted the Singaporeans out when the Cambodia infighting broke out when Goh Chok Tong was the Prime Minister.
I don't know how far has our govt degraded now? I'm really really disappointed.
I'm glad that you are home safely.
government government
the counter staff also their locals what wtf

There is always a Singaporean air rep. Unless they are so irresponsible that they don't put one there.
I know about airlines.
think the malaysian air force airlifted all the 300+ students back to KL this morning
anyway, glad you're ok and back home.
count my blessings, kudos to AirAsia and all my friends at Crossing Bridges and Indo photograhers/drivers who took great care of us.. :)
and thanks to Best Western Bosca Hotel Indo Rep/staffs (our hotel who were destroyed too) who brought us towel, food, toothpaste/toothbrush/soap when we camped at our friend's parent place (and his parent's first house oso flattened :( )
what has the airline gotta do with the garmen?
if garmen wanna save people they will activate C130
now LF should get money back from tiger

Then what is CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore)? It is a government department.
It got nothing to do with the political affilation.

There were no electricity, no water supply, no comms network at the town... and everybody swamped to the petrol kisok for petrol..
when our tour buses arrived at scene, they bor chap us.
when 50 of us armed with cameras started snapping at them, they become quieter instead of the pushing/woo-ing.. some of them jumped queue
got security to maintain situation..
the lady petrol in charge was very cool. she kept to her post and only serve to those were in q...(the q started hours ago)
the dishonest ones resorted to using small kids to get petrol..
