how desperate can they be.. fancy changing the name just so it sort of removes the social stigma and thinking it will help them succeed?

well ... you'd rather see them succeeding in their goal of getting locals to breed more ... than to import more foreign peasants to prop up the numbers to reach their population target, right ? ...

true..but the rising property prices and cost of living, the cheaper better faster campaign, and overcrowding will totally negate whatever they're trying to achieve here.

i doubt the 2 cases are related that deeply.. foreign peasants are here because they can do a job with much lower pay..and i dont think its the foreign peasants that are stopping our couples from dating much less having kids.. its the life in singapore and its only gonna get worse.

oh I'm not talking about S passers here, for sure, we'd still need the banglas to clean the streets and clear out the rubbish chutes, but I'm talking about the foreign peasants we're importing on a permanent basis ... trust me .... our goverment's giving out PRships like flyers ... thing is, things given out for free has no value to most recipients. especially so if the recipients only see you as a sucker, a springboard to another place.
just the other day, I heard a bunch of ah tiongs discussing loudly in the same breathe their ongoing HDB flat purchase transaction, and in the same breathe, the status of their canadian PR application.

Sometimes at Kino I feel sad w/ young couples these days
