Okok for those who moved overseas to Oz or north america, does moving overseas helps you ti become abetter person?
In a way, you become less materialistic more holistic...you have more time building friendships and family ties than busy and stressful singapore.
Not in Oz or N.A, but being overseas has certainly changed me. I guess we reflect the society we live in. I am more liberal now and some of my viewpoints have been challenged.
its fair enough to say that when you move overseas you must have an open minded atitude toward lifestyle changed....and in the process you changed the way you look at life...Have a good perspective on what is important for you.

if you're a dickhead, you're going to be a dickhead no matter where you move to..
if you're willing to change and be a better man, it doesn't matter where you are...

I'm in Oz, and I have found that it's your circumstances, and your attitude and reaction towards it that determines if you'll end up being a better person or not.
For the first two years here, I seem to have lost control of my steering wheel somehow and it was just one bad car crash after another.
Now, things have settled down and I feel that there are elements I like and dislike about the place, as with all places really, but overall, I think I'm less of a monster here than I was in Singapore simply because the crowd, the high population density, the general rudeness and brusqueness of Singaporeans and the lousy hot and humid weather just drove me insane! I need my space and work is just the means to pay for my R&R and I never had any inclination to work hard for some crazy promotion or to acquire massive wealth so the laid-back lifestyle in Oz agrees totally with my soul.
I now love sitting on the grass in parks or gardens or outside the national library here in Melbourne City to read or just watch the world go by, sipping my ice-cold Bubble Tea or licking my Gelato at the same time. So many like-minded people just enjoying the nice weather and a great day out. It's really awesome!
Also, people aren't so materialistic here. I mean, there are still those who are, of course, but generally, nobody 'looks down' on you if you aren't into designer labels and such. Shopping and the aquisition of designer goods aren't exactly a national obsession here and I like that sensibility.
Of course it's not all roses and sunflowers all the time... there are things about Oz that I absolutely abhor too, but I have struck a good balance and have learnt to live and let live and to not fret the horrid stuff that I can't change.
Overall, yes, I have definitely become a better person. Very soon, I can choose to play as much as I work. So yeah, my spirit's happier!
True, many hongkongers who;s in vancouver tend to be less materialistic and self centred
