well, that's one thing I don't get ... local muslims here don't keep dogs, but the muslim people I know from elsewhere, from Iraq, from pakistan, from afghanistan, etc, I met in pluto, all had no problems with dogs .... quite a few of them had pet dogs at home .... did I ever post pics of that blue eyed husky pupsie from pluto ? that's from a pakistani family actually ....

THOSE CUTE PUPPIES~~~~~~~~My previous dog prevented the burning of my house a few times as I got the tendancy to forgot when I boil water... It also did notify in the middle of the nite when the tap burst... It also did crawl up to me to keep me warm when I'm feeling cold during fever...
But... .... ... He's no longer with me now

oh oh.. the lops? those are not as tough or hardy as Cookie..they must be kept indoors and require a lot of looking after... if you keep them outside, they'll probably die very quickly as they're bred to be dumb..
but they're lovely

Okay, let me shed some light on this.....
Muslims can keep guard dogs for home protection. The blind are also allowed to own guide dogs (I remember reading that a blind Muslim man in the UK got a special dispensation to bring his dog to the mosque)....
But most Muslims don't keep dogs because of the difficulties and religious restrictions involved. For one thing, you gotta keep them away from praying areas, and we Muslims pray virtually anywhere at home. That blind man, for instance, also has to keep the mutt leashed in the mosque compound.
And getting their crap or piss on your skin means that you gotta do some heavy-duty ritual cleansing involving washing yourself seven times.
