  well although i know it wont come true, but i do hope that the government will step in, tell both singtel and starhub to shut up.. buy the rights and offer it through mediacorp, and charge the rates as the taxes they would be earning + a little more for their own hardwork..

  it is farking ridiculous that 10 years ago, i was paying 4 dollars a month for everything in the sports channel, and 10 years on, im paying 25 month for less.. because i only get to watch epl now.. where in the past champions league was part of the package..CB

  yes i know.. but the government only earn the profits from whatever they earn through taxes right?

  so instead of taxing them, why dont earn it directly themselves even though its more work, but maybe charge a little more to justify it..

  they will win them many votes in the coming elections im sure.. win win..

  I hope I can make it in time for my whipping session!!!

  Mum has also been bugging me to join her Bikram Yoga instead which is yoga done in a pre-heated room to 41oC!!!

  I think I’m going to die in there but I told her I’ll join her next week.

  I told fatumnette, I was going to vote for the oppo in the next election even if the candidate was a geriatric chimpanzee with down's syndrome .....

  but then again ..... we did get our house on the first ballot for cheap ....

  cheap is relative.. its cheap because of the insanely ridiculous pricing of hdb flats nowadays.. but i sitll think hdb flats are way too expensive when it was meant to be affordable for most..

  well .... the estate we selected, it's less than 300k for the top floors .....

  we conservatively estimate that it won't be neccessary to take up a loan of more than 50k after factoring in everything and fatumnette selling her bachelorette apartment at the price she brought it at. If we don't go overboard with the renovations and furnishings we may be able to own the house outright even.

  but let me do the sums for you. A blue collar Singaporean worker, couple combined take home 2.5k a month. A three room flat at a none prime estate costs between 110k to 150k nowadays. less low income rebate, less CPF, less AHG (additional housing grant, which is 30-40k btw, note that this is NOT the resale grant, which is also 30-40k), a low income couple need not take a loan of less than 60k. about the price of a saloon car. And you can stretch it over 20 + years mind you.

  Of course .... if you want to keep up with the joneses and want a huge flat or prime area when your earnings can't keep up, then be prepared lor. No one can save you from buying 3/4 million dollar flats if you like the view or the 5 minutes from city convenience.

  Most of the speaker's corner ranters don't know what they were talking about anyways. I just demolished one of those ranters at shrek's thread the other day. When you start looking and calculating and reading the HDB fine prints it becomes not so bad after all.

  the price of resale flats is driven by greed...

  there was a unit put up just walking distance from my folks' place... a 4-room NG.. the valuation isn't out.. but it was immediately scratched off by us...

  the owner wants $80k COV

  because across the road is the accursed Nan Hua Primary School..

  GAAAHHHH.......!!!

  I discovered a cavity in one of my premolars late last night while I was brushing my teeth.....

  So I went to the dental clinic on campus first thing in the morning.... two clinics, in fact.

  They both said that since my tooth is not in pain, they cannot take me in as a walk-in case and I must make an appointment for tomorrow morning.

  Damn..... I gotta wait another 24 hours to patch up my cavity and risk having it get worse by then?
