Since most of us here use public transport to get around, I'm sure we've all had some really weird experiences while doing so. So let's share some of those experiences.
I'll start with what I saw yesterday at the MRT:
There was a middle-aged man who had his ezlink card in his shirt pocket.
Instead of taking his card out to tap the scanner, he bowed ninety degrees from his waist to bring his shirt pocket to the card scanner on the faregate.
as posted few days ago, on the escalator in orchard MRT station, there's a cheena lady infront of me dropped her ezlink card... So she actually bend down to pick it up when we're near the end(top) of the escalator... There was quite alot of ppl so I couldn't move away and knocked into her, however she tried to shove me away and due to my weight, I really lost my balance and fell backwards...
Thank god there was a whole line of ppl behind me and the escalator so they pushed back and the cheena lady fell forward... Made a scene but no one bothered abt her...
If I was 100kg and fell backwards, I think the effect will be rather disastrous

Damn..... I think the cheena lady also no choice. U dont want to kena knocked, so do she.......
BTW, I bet there are no better alternatives to get the card, unless you pressed the stop button.......

I think what she did wrong was that she shoved back.....
She gotta understand that people knocking into her is still quite understandable..... as much as she needs to pick up her card, stopping dead in her tracks would lead to everyone behind her knocking into her. In the end, everyone has to be more understanding with regards to this.
However, her shoving back is absolutely unacceptable, especially more so at the top of a crowded upwards-riding escalator. The domino effect can be very dangerous.
A colleague of mine who takes the MRT from Jurong West to Pasir Ris every day shares all sorts of interesting stories.
One she shared with us is this lady who comes in without any make up and will apply the ENTIRE full range of make up so by the time she exits at Raffles she'll be very chio liao.
We thought of making this a business opportunity! Why not offer entire facial scrubs/ mask/ etc services for people on long train rides!!

She could move up, and wait for the crowd to move away then picked the card after it...
There's only 1 line(red) for orchard road...

unfortunately, the trains are already packed like sardines...
i've seen someone fall asleep when he was seated.. and then fall off the seat.. and he continued sleeping on the floor.. this was before the MRT became so cramped that you can sleep standing up and the sheer number of people will hold you up...
p.s. i shall not talk about the numerous times i've seen people eat things like chye png and char kuay teow on the buses... best of all, they were not even seated

Did you smile? Cuz you were on Candid Camera!!!
in mrt station, i saw a maria with ezlink in her jeans pocket, toking on the fone
so she kept bumping her butt at the reader
and in trains and on buses, boys so engrossed in their PSPs tt they have alot of actions like swerving their body left and right, jerking their heads and yelling YES!!!! when they scored a goal

I thought a lot of times people were 'spoofing' all those incidents
UNTIL once I WITNESS someone CUTTING FINGERNAILS on the train
I was astounded. Cannot believe it.
Auntie rushes into train at sengkang station. Slides herself into a seat that I'm just about to sit on.
Instead of straightening up and backing off, I proceeded to sit on her.
i met auntie-slider b4 too
but i won.

What did she do?
Screams, makes a fuss, yells profanities.
The moment I sat on her, she struggled to stand up.
So I tell her in chinese: "Want a seat? You can have it. But if you take MY seat, I'll sit on you like I'm doing now."
She proceeds to yell a bit more, some people laugh.
Then I stand up and ask her in a very hostile way: "Are you gonna get up now or do you want me to sit on you all the way to Dhoby Ghaut?"
She gets up and I get the seat.
Winrar. :)

wear high heels.
pretend to walk away from the seat angrily, stomp their feet in the process.

I wld use my foot to either drag it one side as i walk away from te escalator or kick it slightly further away.
There was once, the bus driver of 166 took a turn when he was suppose to go straight!! I guess he was filling in for someone and didn't know the route. Some old chap near him guided him back on course. In total we were off course for around 10 minutes because the big U turn was quite a distance away!! Lucky for me I was extra early that day so I enjoyed the entire journey to school =)
oh yah.. i didn't see this but this was from a friend who is insane enough to do it...
he was facing the door in the train.. it was so packed, no one could get on.. this guy kept shoving him in the back for some time but he could not move.. so when the doors opened, he just stood there until the doors were about to close..
then he did a backward headbutt to the guy shoving him, stepped out the train turned around just to see through the window someone clutching his own face in pain..

I kena one auntie-slider too.
My butt went smack into her face because she slid in just as I was sitting down.
I'm actually amazed that she didn't yell molest, but then again, I supposed she realized that she was in the wrong and that she had placed her face in the way of my butt.

How would the crowd move away?

+1. Reasonable. Maybe the cheena lady should have called the station manager to guide the crowd.
by walking away?
anyway, a friend of mine said there was once someone was trying to flag down a cab he was in.. it was about 2am.. and the guy was carrying one of those KFC Col. Sanders statue things
Originally posted by Samuel Lee:How would the crowd move away?
ahhh... i meant, there will be a period of time when everyone moves up into the control station and the escalator will be empty... There will be periods where the escalator is empty even during peak periods...
