The downfall of Singapore would probably be due to the stupidity of Singaporeans than that of the government.....
As much as I may oppose many of the ruling party's policies, I also balk at trying to pick a fight with them for every damn thing....
That was a case of piss-poor financial prudence, nothing more. I absolutely fail to see why that couple really cannot live with a smaller flat and having to take public transport.
Anyway, I just like laughing at the denizens of SC.

people I know who buy half-mil house and car usually have combined income of about 10k. and even then its usually a japanese car.

their combined income is barely 5k ... if we split that into two incomes ...... now which idiot would go and buy a car on an income of 2.5k a month, or even 3 ? ... and before that he was on contract work mind you ...
and say IF he really needs the car for work, as alleged by the thread's resident lunatic, let's do the sums, say 500 in payments, another 400 for roadtax, season parking, fuel for driving everyday, maintenance

my mother told me that when i was a baby, she taught me to suck from a straw so that she doesn't have to be like other parents, carrying their bags full of stuff.
she will just buy packet milk from mama shops and feed me.
