There's a hidden gem nearby there... Claypot beef rice... By far east plaza/shopping centre(The one beside hyatt)... But tends to get sold out b4 evening...
further down at tanglin mall/shopping centre(again I cant tell which is which), beside Devil's... There's a shop Nirai Kanai opened by an Okinawa Chef and boss... Main signature dish is stir-fried bitter gourd... Abit expensive but definately good... U both also can go to Anywhere(a pub named "Anywhere") for drinks and to look at ang mohs...

oh ya... If u're going with a small group, u can call in advance to book one of the 2 tatami room there... Most of the customer are japanese so it feels alot like a mini japan there...
Used to frequent there in my teens... Where I learnt how to make tamago and some other stuffs... I still remember my first drink of awamori... My frenz have to drag me home after tat...
You know, I have been re-reading fairy tales I read during my childhood lately and I find that my perception of them as changed vastly
Seriously these days I think fairy tales are actually very twisted.
Eg. Sleeping Beauty…imagine a bride 100 years older than you
Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves… if you think about it, Ali Baba has to be the biggest thief of all
Rumpelstizskin (sp?) … Think about it. The little man did win the child fare and square.
Many more but my brain is not really working.
Also, in fairy tales the good guys are always good looking but the bad are always ugly and weird looking. How’s that for stereotype…maybe the exception is the evil stepmother in Snow White.
Heck not a fairy tale but even in Merchant of Venice, Shylock if you look at it another way, it is quite pitiful too at how he was denied his payment due to a technicality and his daughter running off with the ‘enemy’.
Then again, I am babbling so don’t mind me

when u are called a Sleeping Beauty, it really meant " you lazy slob, get up and work"
when u are called a Ali Baba, it meant "you are illegal immigrant hah, stealing hah"
when Snow White is mentioned, we 1st think of the 7 Dwarfs... "short short ones.."

well, that depends on whether have I been to that area anot... I've haven exactly been to everywhere when compared to other serious foodies like Leslie (IeatIshootIpost) or ladyiron chef >__> Heck, I couldn't find ppl to accompany me from tampines to tiong bahru or ABC market just eat to char siew rice...
I'm not familiar like places in the west or the north though...
That time don’t say, I treated my Malaysian friend at Crystal Jade Palace because they always take very good care of me in Malaysia
KNS I really burn a huge hole in my pocket.
Best part was, they love the chicken there so much for the next 2 days, they went back on their own just to eat the chicken
