So... if you have to pick 3 values, in order of importance, that you lead your life by and makes all decisions with - what would they be?
Examples:
This is not a General Paper question btw. Just curious and once in a while 'input' to the forum :p
so cheem one.
hardwork and achievements - not much really compare to pple who really chiong...
Learning and knowledge - still working on it.. me aint knowledgable
Experience and living in the present. - been thru a couple life threatening and have survived well.. i will treasure my present moment and my life
huh...i dun have much value leh...the one thing laziness is dominating my life right now..
Responsibility and Duty, Learning and Knowledge, Experience and living in the present would be my choices.
none of the above
Must choose only 3 ar... tough man. lol
Strength above all - both mental and physical. I could say more but it would get too long-winded.
In a way, my answer is a cheating one, considering how any other virtue could be referred to as a "strength of character". Basically, everything is important.
You guys don't have to choose only from the list of examples (them being examples).

hee don't have to choose from those!

Reason for this topic.....just a reminder to self too.. that.
well I think that as we grow older - the values that we perceive as most important become consciously (or unconsciously) the guiding force behind not just our decisions, but also due to that - the shared bonding which we seek between friends or partners....
It's quite different cos when we are younger, we tend to seek people we are impressed by but as time go pass, and we 'filter' through the common horde, we also become less and less tolerant of people who do not share or agree with our own personal values....it's not a bad thing - we only have 24 hours, we need SOME sort of classification to prioritise the way we spend our time.
But perhaps its also very self restricting as we surround ourselves with people more and more like ourselves, and grow more impatient with people that are not. It is very hard to remind ourselves that having different values isn't the same as holding wrong values - yes?
In the end, we all have a story behind us... and our values are what we label the moral of our story. Different people, different journeys, different values.

as I get older, I care less and less about thinking too much. if I feel someone is an asshole, I'd steer clear.simple as that.

If I choose from above:
1) Hardwork and achievements
2) Consideration for others and compassion.
3) Responsibility and Duty
If I don't choose from above:
1) Diligence
2) kindness
3) righteousness

Most people don't like to be challenged. The very thought that there might be an alternative view to their own is uncomfortable to them. Hence they surround themselves with like-minded folks to confirm their own point of view, effectively forming their own little bubble of a world. These people don't like rocking the boat. They don't like progression.

Due to my nature, I'm very familiar with this line. I understand how difficult it is to entertain the thought of being wrong.

Well, from ur choices, I dunno how to choose... Not that I dun understand myself, but just tat Ur choices dun exactly reflect my beliefs, character and thinking...
I would choose the following 3......
hardwork and achievements
Learning and knowledge
Honesty and sincerity.
I think first and foremost one have to be honest to oneself.
I think it is with gratification to see that your work pay off.
Able to gain new knowledge and accept new ideas is part and partial of aging.

wei wuuu....
not å‡å ‚ lahhhhhh
Hardwork and achievement, learning and knowledge and honest and sincerity.
6 values in total for me to perform my work diligently, build trusts and to acquire higher knowledge so as to get promoted in order to manage more assets and people.
I'm not in 30s but 20s, can I share my input??
I would choose:
Experience and living in the present - I don't make it a point to keep check of it
Consideration for others and compassion - I show them to friends and people who need me
Learning and knowledge - I learn for achievements
Honesty and sincerity - I show them to friends and people who need me
