Two Aussie colleagues who have transition lenses complained about them, saying that : 1) they take too long to darken when you walk from indoors to the sunny outdoors; and 2) it doesn't get dark enough to do much good.

bifocal already? I went for lasik and it helped with the short sightness. However I do need a reading glasses when I read a book with small lettering. I was told I should not be wearing any more glasses but apprently it's not to be so.
Anyway I'm still happy that I have done away with the permanent glasses especially when eating a hot meal

I have Transitions....
They don't darken as much as sunglasses, but at least they help to cut some glare out, especially in morning when UV rays are strong....
Remember my marathon photo in my Facebook profile? Those dark glasses I was wearing were in fact Transitions....
that give me idea.. i go facebook and see if any of the female friends who are moustachy and willing to take up the role... hahahaha...

I guess they are alright here. But the sun's glare is harsher in Australia so Transitions probably isn't good enough over there.
I have shades that cover my own spectacles and they work a treat. They're not clip-on lenses but cover-overs.

*faints... I don't think you'd be their friend for much longer after you approach them this way. It's not a very flattering thing to say to a female.

Aaahh... Sounds good! I use contact lenses so I can use whichever shades I choose to. But on those rare occasions that I step out with my specs, I can't use my shades cause to put your shades over your glasses is so ... weird.

I've seen a couple of Chinese visitors try to wear normal sunglasses over their regular specs, and needless to say it looked ridiculous.
Fit-overs are quite amazing though, for the longest time I had to swap my glasses when it gets too dark or my vision is too blur.
All this talk of glasses reminds me of a ridiculous situation I once faced at another lab's workshop....
I was using a benchtop drill to drill some acrylic pieces... then one of the admin clerks stopped me and ordered me to put on safety goggles.
But as I told her, I was already wearing my glasses, and the safety goggles they had were the wraparound type that are not meant to be worn over existing spectacles... but she was adamant.
So I somehow placed those stupid goggles over my glasses (the way KB's Chinese visitors did) and continued drilling.
At that point she got frustrated and told me to take my specs off before putting on the goggles.
At which point I blew up at her: 'MY GLASSES ARE ALSO REQUIRED FOR SAFETY!!! IF I CAN'T SEE THE DRILL BIT, AND I DRILL STRAIGHT INTO MY HAND, WILL YOU LIKE IT?!?!?!'
She finally got the point and walked off.

2m safety rope for 2m height..... That sounds like something from a bad 80s sitcom.....

Getting your own pair is probably the best way to deal with it.

the harness comes with a 1m rope with 2m release rope(to slow down any fall). Any hooking on height below 4 meter would render this useless.
