Actually sometimes taking a tour package is better.
The last time we went Hokkaido, we took package tour. Ok leh!
We still get to enjoy the food and don't mind paying extra for food.
Go enjoy as tour package, then next time, can go F&E.
Planning to do F&E to Hokkaido with my colleagues. 2 of them studyed in Hokkaido before, they went back every year.
Got to save money =P

YES. That'll be one item off my bucket list!!!
take pics!!
we went to Tokyo only on a stopover before flying home...
btw.. if you are at Narita, go get a bottle of the Suntory whisky there
the DFS at Narita allows you to try stuff you want to buy... the single malt is amazing...
however, if you have about 75,000 yen to throw, that's the price of the 30 year old Suntory Hibiki.. best whisky in the world

oh great... I yearn for a food pilgrimage...
AV wans a gundam pilgrimage...
LF wans a disaster pilgrimage...
anyone wanna add on the list?
oh.. if you're going with adventurous people, go drop in at little drinking holes where you can order stuff which the locals eat..
on impulse, zora and i dropped into a bar which serve you stuff you can barbeque yourself.. they set up a stone stove with glowing charcoal for you to grill your stuff in..
we had turban shell and stingray wings as a snack.. with beer, it was fantastic..
i bet there are many of these little places to go to.. much better than the "usual" places which cater to tourists...
