What really disturbs me is this student's comment:
But student Konstantin Ravvin expressed a different opinion, accusing the university of "making a witch hunt out of absolutely nothing, as if they want to teach us some kind of moral lesson."
"This is college. Everyone cheats, everyone cheats in life in general," Ravvin said. "I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone in this testing lab who hasn't cheated on an exam."
Yes, Mr Ravvin, the university is teaching you a moral lesson, and yes, that is also part of you getting an education.

the world may end up like Bangladesh... the then education minister came to singapore on a personal visit for some medical treatment and was guest of my sister's company client...
the client and minister somehow ended up crashing a bowling session of sis, friends and myself... and the client then dragged us to dinner at restaurant near the bowling alley...
the minister, talking to us, admitted that there was so much institutionalised cheating in Bangladesh, and it has gone on for so long and is so widespread that there is no one who is qualified in Bangladesh anymore... the universities and colleges are infested with people whose degrees and diplomas are not worth the paper they're printed on although they are genuine degrees and diplomas.. because they are all obtained through cheating..
no one knows anything anymore...
he actually asked us how he could get out of this mire...
i think he knew what he had to do... he just needed someone else to tell him

Well, this serves to remind us that there are those who go to university for a scrap of paper, and there are those who go to university for an education.
This reminds me of the time a few of my students came up to me and asked me: 'Sir, looking at the trend of past semesters' tests, exactly what topics do you think will be tested in the upcoming test?'
I gave them a KNN look and said:
'First, I'm not a psychic. I can't read the lecturer's mind'.
'Second, education is not just about the grades. I suggest you get rid of your 'spot the topic' mentality if you wish to survive NUS.'

The African Arowana is not an Arowana at all. In fact they are more related to the Arapaima than the Arowana
And although they get HUGE (up to 1 metre in length) they are filter feeders

that probably explains why degree holding banglas end up at my father's ITC night classes he conducts at the ITE.
dad says unlike some of the degree holding ah tiongs, the banglas don't know shit from calculus.
