Ya la!
Or even if you hired someone to nurse him it's money wasted when it's something that can be prevented

It's horrifying actually
its becoming more and more common.
I've come to think of taking care of one's health and fitness as both a personal responsibility as well as social responsibility.
most of the stuff that people associate with the aging process and time are actually preventable or even reversible.
one's physical environment, stress level, food, and activity has great influence in one's gene expression, regardless of what genome you start with.

Yeah and just the other day HM was just telling me the problem with Indian men is that a lot of them are usually very good looking
But it goes downhill after marriage.
I look at MPB and agreed with him :(

The alarm clock always wakes me up when I feel I've slept only 2 minutes.

And there's no fun when you become breathless after 2 minutes of running around. So what do you do? Instead of playing tag or football outside with your kids, you confine them and make them play video games and watch TV - which perpetuates the cycle.
Also, if there were fewer overweight people, we'd use less fuel transporting, cooling and feeding ourselves, and have fewer burdens on our healthcare systems.

Anyway, all this talk about health responsibility reminds me of an NDP Rally speech a couple of years ago.
Ah Lee was talking about the responsibility of every Singaporean to have a healthy lifestyle and whatnot. The SC morons were all over it, saying that it was banal at best and a government conspiracy to cut healthcare spending at worst....
But the way I see it, it is indeed everyone's personal responsibility to stay healthy. When you're healthy, you become more productive, you spend less time off on medical leave, and you spend less on medical care for yourself and your loved ones.
If anything, it's the taxpayers who have to bear the burden of subsidising those people who get into health problems because they didn't take good care of themselves.
If the PM tells people go and have a healthy lifestyle, then I'm all for that. Every Singaporean who listens to that advice will reduce my tax dollars being used for their healthcare.
Rosli Mansor guitar sounds full of soul... though wierd at times like this when working...

I think it goes 2 way...
1) staying healthy and engaging in active lifestyle with work/life balance to fight diaseases associated with obseity based, diet based and lifestyle based illness.
2) staying healthy and engaging in active lifestyle with work/life balance but end up getting cancer and blah blah blah.....
I support the 1st clause like you, but I am not so sure about the health care when cancer is involved. Just gives me the feeling that the gov is NOT going to help even if you tio cancer!
Still, I am hoping for a legistation for a general insurance for the top 40 killers, but without the need to raise taxes.
Yeah right... I must be dreaming....

yeah. the way I see it, you improve the quality of your own life and that of your loved ones when you are healthy and fit. so even for selfish reasons it makes sense.

honestly now I don't think anybody has a clue as to how to prevent cancer, even lance armstrong kena before.
but, stuff like diabetes, hypertension, obesity etc is mostly preventable and reversible.
for cancer, I depend on insurance to cover that. :P

Yah. I am refering to those. These are preventable dieseases. If we are all responsible for self, we can do something about it.
wahhhh... the body...

I was referring to totally preventable diseases and health ailments. It is true that you can eat right and exercise right and still get health problems. All I'm saying is that if you eat right and exercise right, you can reduce the chances of getting those health problems.
As av pointed out, even Lance Armstrong, with all his prowess in cycling and marathon running, couldn't escape cancer. But what is also undeniable is that he also almost certainly escaped many other medical problems that he could have gotten had he been a lazy fat slob.
It's just like how some people can get lung cancer even though they don't smoke. However, if everyone were to just quit smoking, only those who are fated to get it will get lung cancer. All those who would have gotten cancer had they smoked would escape getting it.
That last example is especially striking for me. After all, my uncle died of lung cancer at the age of 57, and it has not escaped me that he had been a heavy smoker for as long as I can remember.
My aunt (his wife), my parents, and my grandmother, all of whom do not smoke, outlived him in spite of being older than him.
Anyway, after playing 2 Heroic Dungeons last night
I realized how rusty I have become. Need to practice some stuff and seriously I don’t know how some people play WoW on a lappy. It is very irritating. Seriously need to fix my PC but that means I have to redo my key bindings and shit!!!

I can use my parents as a real life example. Both are the same age, but my father exercises and tries as best as he can to eat healthy. my mother doesn't. Now that both are 63, my father is still active and mentally alert. My mother is nearly an invalid, with a host of health problems(all preventable) and is showing signs of dementia.
It was being read the riot act by my doctor and watching my mother's physical and mental health degenerate that made me finally wake up one morning and do something about myself.
