Alternatively, many of my friends also use recommended nannies who live close by to provide support.
Thankfully my parents are happy to help look after Shrokitten when he/she comes! Though I have been considering the possibility of working part time in order to spend more time with the child during early childhood years :)
I think you qualify for subsidised rates if your combined income is not over a certain level.
The thing is, I don't think MPB and I qualify for any form of subsidy -_-" which is something I have not gone to check out.
I do not have problems if I'm sure that my parents will not spoil the kid, but between having my kid pampered, coddled and spoilt by my parents, I rather leave him/her in the care of strangers.

for a parent (usually the one with milk laden mammaries), to stay at home to look after the cub while the other one brings home the bacon .......
but try selling that idea now ... to DINK white collar couples ....
I wonder sometimes, how the less well off, blue collar folks in singapore manage with their kids ..... those that couldn't afford montessori kindergardens and thousand dollar a month infant care ......
What I'm going to say is going to sound very insensitive but seriously if you don't have much in the first place, you're not going to miss much
However, once you are used to a certain quality of life, and that quality of life may be compromised, you start to think twice if the sacrifice is worth it.
And I think for most of those folks, they don't think/plan as much as well. Once you start punching in the figures you start to wonder

well, i think of a cub as a gift of above, a symbol of the union between a couple. It shouldn't be a chore or a burden that's reasoned against a pros and cons list. It should be something that just happens.
I pray, every night, that my coming union with fatumnette would be fruitful .....
and I hope that you and MPB can expect the joys of a cub soon too .....

If only I can think so simply
Anyway, maybe because I've never been really fond of children so it took MPB a really long time to even make me consider 1
Well in life, it's about making choices and having a child is really a choice, whether you make it conciously or not
i agree that if you dont hv much you wont miss it! i guess tts why in terms of expenses generally we r very careful cos both of us enjoy the mobility of not getting bogged down by debts or lifestyle demands too much with or withou a cub... so i guess quality of life is quite subjective and can change too. having a cub may deprive you of certain things which u feel contributes to your quality of life you hv right now but it can also give you new set of criteria in which to measure what quality of life can mean to you. :)
just like spending money to buy something u love and gives you pleasure in ownership, the loss of existing factors is an investment in something else you believe will bring you greater pleasure or joy later.

many of them apply for various financial assistance schemes yearly and complain to their MPs and the customer service centres of various ministries on a regular basis. some also lose custody of their kids because they are fucked up and NCSS and MCYS have to step in. I can go on and on.

most of the parents I see with their kids look very unhappy and stressed out.
most of the people i see with children, frankly should never be allowed to breed...
gotta quote one of my friends, you may remember her as BabyRS who just had a baby: "realises that simply having a child doesn't make me a 'mother'."
i realised that touching someone doesnt make me a molester

When it appeared on Android market, I downloaded it on the spot.
It's pretty interesting.... you can play with a random player halfway across the planet over a period of several days if need be.

Put it this way. My Samsung Galaxy Shit is considered new and it’s working at retard level. It hangs so many times a day I think I actually reset it like 5 times a day

If I'm not so cheap, I would spend money to get a new phone -_-"
But a phone is something I won't pay money for
