Reservist and Job... PAINS in the ass

Hi.
Last year, I did not get to clear any reservist cycle till this year's March. Sadly, my boss wants me to defer. However, I do not want to skip this in-camp. It is like a much anticipated no brain escape from the realms of the office. Really need this tension releasing break from work....
How do I tell my boss that I actually wanna go reservist, without offending him? Or.. get the NS portal to immediate reject my request? IS that even possible?

i thought without good reasons, MINDEF usually rejects deferments?

Given the HR and Legal department are also involved in writing the deferment appeal, I think the chances are there.....

or if you know the people in your unit, particularly the S1, go talk to him without your company knowing?

tell your boss that you are not getting any younger, and wish to chiong and finish your 10 cycles asap, therefore you do not wish for further deferment.

Actually it is not up to you to decide either way.
If your boss wants you to defer and is willing to write a support letter, then you just need to submit the deferment application accordingly.
If your CO want you to come in desperation for ICT, then he will reject the deferrment request accordingly.
Do you have the choice?

There are tons of people who never get called up. Including my boss who is going for ICT and never finishes his 10 years cycles.

As Bear has said, you might want to just submit your deferment papers while calling your S1 to tell him that you don't want to defer.
Alternatively, your unit may have certain deferment policies. In my case, I have to go through my OC first for initial approval before he passes on the deferment request up the line.
If your unit has a similar policy, you might want to go through your OC (or equivalent) first, with a separate note telling him that you don't want to defer.

Regardless of choice... I lose.
Even if CO does not allow defer, the boss will question me like how come BBB can, you cannot?Did you try or not?
I have a team member who is so loyal to the project he is like taking an all assault to differ reservist.

Fudgy, I had defered before. But end up things are screwing up and my cycles are behaving like a irregular menstrual....
I just pray that the unit can do something.....

yes....TS do keep in mind that the political climax is pro FTs and anti-SGs, dun you worry that your boss might just simply use a different reason to fire you and hire FT.it will be so much easier for your boss, since FTs got no reservist.Be thankful that u still got a job.
