I think it's just that the youth of today are getting softer and more selfish ...
and platforms like these give more avenues for them to whine ....
you should know too mah .... 99.99% of men would just serve and fark off .... it's the few that'll chao keng and kao peh that makes the most noise ....

the thing about MOs is that they get jaded ...
because so many who go to them to get downgraded are actually trying to keng .... I mean, c'mon ... if you have an injury, or were certified mentally unstable by someone else, the medical board would take care of it for you, neh ? ...
you won't go "hey ! I'm hurt worse than that ! ... downgrade me further !" ... or "hey ! I'm really siao ! ... I can't serve NS ! ... cannot take it ! how ? " ...
a siao lang won't tell you how siao or ting tong he is ....
such farkers, are spoiling the market for people who go to the MO for real needs ...

I was good buddy with a senior medic and we often chatted with the NS MO ... he, the doc, enlightened us on several points of the whole thing.
point number one is that the medical community in singapore is damm small, everybody knows everybody ... chances are the senior specialist who downgraded one of the men taught you in medical school, etc etc ... so MOs won't overrule such things lightly ... cos you'll be going again someone who's much more senior than you in your professional community.
the most expeditious way is to kick it upwards to the medical board .... and if the medical board says boo ! chao keng ... then you can bet your arse the man was really trying to chao keng ...end of story ...
I never bought into any of those I'm injured and the MO won't downgrade me, or I'm siao, can't take NS, going made stories in the SAF forum ... you know how risk adverse the army is when it comes to NSmen, you think they'll fark around with you and be bloodyminded out of spite?

yeah, that's what he said .... if the MO or the medical board thinks you're chao kenging or won't give you a lower medical status, you can bet your arse he's got bloody good grounds for doing so ....
it's not like the legal community where the relationship is adverserial ...
An MO's first instincts would be to think "did the more senior specialist doc know something that I don't ? saw something that I missed ? " ....
remember ... it's his ass too if he screwed up .... his medical career doesn't end after ORD ...
