it stems from the factories sending it direct to the ports and shipping it here.. over in their home country, they will need to send the stuff overland, incurring transportation costs and also their high taxes...
so when people ask you to buy stuff when you go overseas, tell them to look for it in the shops here.. chances are really high that the stuff is cheaper here
