Ya, I heard from you in the night crapbox...
a pity that it's closing... We can order so much there and it's still cheap...
Food's good too~
A lot of good food stalls are closing
Pity
The fondue@army market is gone.
On the bright side of things, MegaBites at NUS Science canteen has closed down.
Good riddance to bad food. They took absolutely no pride in their cooking.

They closed??
I am neutral about that place since my place is far from there.
But I remember that the waiting time wasn't short and it's pretty crowded.

you should try making your own fondue? friend got a set and it was pretty nice having dessert at her place
I think coz I never really have a sweet tooth nor do I really like chocolate that much, I never really enjoyed or craved for chocolate fondue

But that's not the point of fondue! The crunchy coat that forms when you dip it in iced water is pure distilled pleasure.
all this talk is making me crave dark choc
Hello and good morning.
For some unknown reason I cant sleep at all the whole night...
No idea if it's the weather or something else...
Totally tired and zonk out...

Their pasta was pathetic. You could get better pasta sauce off the shelf at NTUC. Their carbonara sauce was especially vile.
So was their pizza. I remember ordering their 'BBQ Chicken' pizza once, thinking that the toppings consisted of barbecued chicken.
Instead, I got super-dry grilled chicken topping..... with store-bought BBQ sauce instead of tomato pizza sauce as the base. Yucks.
Basically, their entire Western menu sucks big time. And since most of their menu was Western, that says a lot.
And they often run out of food at dinner time (even though they close at night).... I remember once yelling in exasperation at the fella 'Half your menu is out of stock. SO WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR DINNER?!?!?!?'
I really have no idea why people would queue up to eat at that place, but maybe it's because Science canteen is overcrowded at lunchtime, and people have got to eat.
Simply put, their cooks took no pride in their work, and only saw it as a means of getting a paycheck. If that place were to ever get featured on Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay will tear into them brutally.
Woah that sounds awful .
It's amazing that in our country it can still do well

When u are short of time for lunch or dinner, that will have to suffice if there is no alternative around...
Problem is megabites is never known for fast service.
I hardly eat there, my end is the arts, biz, engr end, so maybe fudge can tell you why is it crowded during meal-times then.

Yeah, beggars can't be choosers.
That is not to say that good Western food cannot be cooked in a small establishment. Years ago NUS Engin canteen had a very good Western food sold at dirt-cheap prices. We're talking about prices like $2.20 for very fragrant and cheesy chicken baked rice.
Simply put, the stall uncle took pride in his cooking, end of story.

I would think becoz some stall holders have this thinking of "Price so cheap u shldn't complain" mentality...
It's not like we expect top quality food, but at least stall holders shldn't treat consumers like they are serving prison inmates...
But yeah, whether ur price is cheap or expensive, u shld be putting effort and taking pride in the quality of your cooking...
Some ppl hv no pride
It's just a cookhouse job -_-"
prefers the pulau tekong muslim cookhouse food.........feree and delicious.i end up punishment for not being able to pass physical fitness tests so need to stay back for like 3 saturdays................
discovered the curry chicken and food are way better than chinese cookhouse food.it was like one of the best food better than the malay stalls at the market next to temasek junior colledge.

I should add also that megabites is not what you call cheap compared to the CHEAP canteen food.

Well, I had my fair share of campus food...
When a canteen is called Breadboard, how nice could the food be? For all u know, sillicon chips might be tastier
I see a flurry of activity at the taxi forum over the "kena bashed by *ahem* indian".
*shrugs*
The replies there are just..........hard to describe here.
