I swear many Singkies are getting stupider by the day.
I certainly don't think those signs of hers were funny.
I disagree. She broke the law, so she deserves to be charged, but it doesn't deserve the maximum sentence. I think it could be stiffer still but there was the public outcry as well. What sort of punishment did you think was appropriate?
What I found ironic was the other news item on the same date, which announced state-sanctioned street art classes for $2000 - $3000. It shows a complete lack of understanding about what it is.

Well, after ur fotos, I was trying to get KB to go try it out with me...Definately Challenge accepted...
Free top up of fries, that should be no problem for Keii
One of my friends is a part-owner of that place. He's not involved in the day-to-day operations of the place though, so we can forget about discounts.

Save in style, her intention was no more nobler than those of vandals IMO.
Why should she be treated in ways different?
And I dont trust this guy called Shanmugam.
He has stepped into the fore and plead on her behalf.
It's very difficult to top De Burg in my books, and I think the hanger steak and marrow looks even better.
Later I'm heading to Mex-Out in China Square before my Thursday meet-up. This, after Piedra Negra yesterday...
btw, evil bus, want to come eat with us and be scared all over again?

Street art sits in a very grey area, and it's illegal anywhere in the world.
The way you feel about her situation depends on what you first notice when you look at her work. If you saw damage first you'll probably be outraged, but enough people saw the self-deprecating side of the messages first to make a fuss.
Unlike what Fricker and Fay did it spoke to the Singaporean in us. The moneylending, tuition and rental ads that are also illegally pasted on lamposts and walls don't serve any wider interest either.
A cynic would question whether all this is deliberately playing into her hands. By playing the martyr she's raised the profile of an illicit activity.

When so, and how so?
KB> *shrug* Quite probably. But face the music she must anyway, since it was a risk already assumed when she did those.

Omakase is poor value for money in comparison. A 100g patty with the works is $17.50+, and you add $5.90 for a double.
let's see when we all can go because it's the new financial year and most are doing consolidation for the past year..
maybe we'll go to that burger joint that seats 20.. or de burg

I think we can agree on that. Most people do - if you get caught, you have to do the time.
The state sanctioned versions are a joke though. I watched as those "murals" in the Clarke Quay and Boat Quay underpasses were set up. It was more like a gallery - I don't know any street artists elsewhere who use ladders, set up barricades and take their own sweet time.
And they are already falling apart because they were done on wallpaper. It's like a reflection of our cityscape, where nothing can be permanent.
Actually around my office there is a lot of boutique eating places
Like the Chye Huat Hardware coffee place. They serve really good coffee. They don't take reservations and always packed -_-"

That place is Hipster Central. It's a shame that good coffee has to go with a crowd of pretentious customers.

It's actually interesting here.
You get a mix of the hipster crowd and the really seedy looking crowd
Just by a road
