The lesson on humility, and what it truly means to serve the people.
They could take lessons from the earliest caliphs of Islam who would walk the streets of Medina by night incognito so as to get a better feel of the lives of their subjects.
But this? Chasing diners away to make space for a small time MP, then claiming that they are connecting with the people? Sigh. -

Hooligans...They will have to learn that being educated and being grassroots member doesn't mean that they are "Elites" and can push commoners around...
Recently over last few years, I personally feel that the situation machiam looks like in the very olden days of "Nobles vs commoners"... except that they have to remember that they are not nobles... ... ... no special rights...

I am actually willing to accept that it was more of a case of overzealous grassroots leaders than an outright order from the MP.
Even so, the MP should have rebuked the grassroots leaders on the spot and issued an immediate public apology. -
In all likelihood, the Mp will find this out only through STOMP.

Now u mention it... it does seems like more of a case of overzealous grassroots members willing to angkat bola the mp...as for the MP, well, he must have thought it's not much of an issue... They are blind and cannot see the ground...

no no no, u all dun get the idea...the point is not whether rich or not... the point is the grassroots leaders see themselves as a different "powerful/class/hierachy" entity as the others... and power does not equates to richness...

Well not all... I would say the scale is slowing tipping towards "most"...And it's not just Grassroots... for example, the earliest case was Ms "Get-out-of-my-elite-uncaring-face"... Another type of example would be JC vs ITE in the recent thread... I would say not all behave the same but the gap is slowly widening...
