  SINGAPORE: Former Singapore politician and diplomat Lee Khoon Choy said the country's younger generation of Chinese do not know their roots.

  Launching his new book, Mr Lee observed many young Singaporeans do not know where they came from and can't speak the language well.

  The book titled 'The Golden Dragon and Purple Phoenix' looks at multi-ethnic descendants of Chinese immigrants in Southeast Asia.

  It studies the impact of intermarriage between Chinese immigrants and natives.

  Mr Lee noted some Chinese have forgotten their heritage when they assimilate in their adopted country.

  Mr Lee said: "I have asked so many young people where you are from. (They say) I'm Hokkien. (When I ask) which part of Hokkien (Fujian), is it Xiamen or Quanzhou? They don't know."

  The 89-year-old believes it is important for Singaporean Chinese to study the language at an early age. - CNA/fa

  U'll be amazed at wat some ancestral book contains back at your home town, despite u might not know it, but ur name might be already recorded in the book...

  Hmmm, I cant seem to plan a viable route after work...

  I need to go get grocery, go stock up foodstuff (different from where I get my grocery), and go to another play to get some tidbits (different from the other 2)...

   

  all 3 places are located at town but from my workplace over and taking into consideration of certains criteria, all routes like not viable -___- ie: waste too much time... -___-

  NEA sent a storm alert saying Clementi got 24.3mm of rain...

  thing is, there was thunder.. and it's fricken hot with no rain whatsoever!!

  i was out around the area on errands.. nothing was remotely damp!
