Director sues woman for allegedly giving him herpes
By K.C. Vijayan, Law Correspondent
A COMPANY director who had a fling with a female executive is now suing her, alleging she gave him herpes, a sexually transmitted disease.
In court documents, Mr Alan Tee, who is 35 and single, claims the woman told him she was 'clean' before they became intimate. But since their tryst in August 2004, he had run up $300,000 in medical bills and lost man-hours.
Defendant June Quah, an accounts executive, is contesting the claims and has hired legal heavyweight Allen & Gledhill to fight her case.
In the civil suit believed to be the first of its kind before the High Court here, Mr Tee is seeking general damages for the infection she allegedly caused, over and above the $300,000 in medical and man-hour costs, which he wants reimbursed as special damages.
He claims the infection has caused him frequent and recurring pain, and that he needs continued treatment, which has translated into mounting medical bills.
