What is your understanding and views on prostitution, especially prostitution in Singapore?
In my humble opinion, Geylang, Duxton, Joo Chiat, etc, all those areas need to be seriously cleaned out.
Prostitution is a sign of failure.
It is a shame, degrading, and dehumanizing.
Women are being trafficked and tricked into this profession, and married men with children visit these places.
What can be gained from letting these places flourish..????
Nothing is gained.....a little money cannot compensate for the loss of dignity and serious social damage.
This is really a big blot on Singapore's face.
I dont like to say this, but Singapore should not become like Thailand where some foreign tourists visit it to indulge in sex-tourism. This is extremely shameful.
But look at Singapore now, lots of foreign prostitutes and also foreign Johns.
This is truely something which need a serious consideration, the old model should be dropped.

I am so dissapointed that this topic is moved from "Speakers Corner" to "Bar" instead.
The reason why I put it there is because Id like to start a serious discussion from socio-political perspective.
This Sgforums already suffer from serious proliferation of unctontrolled number of subforums, each canibalizing and diminishing the other, and now look at this. "Speakers Corner" and "Bar" is as different as day and night. Why move it?

Firstly, this is the oldest profession in the world.
secondly, it provide sexual relief to people to have this need - if not, sexual crime will increased
thirdly, this is all over the world, so what's so shameful ?
last but not the least, it provide food and shelter to their family ..
So what so wrong with prositution ??
