Thanks Novawin for the update on Dakota station!
May be CCL stage 2 can be open by 2009 instead of the projected 2010.
u wish dood... since when other than the first phase of MRT opening has there been any other line that opened on time?

My pleasure.
Given the pace of construction progress on CCL Stage 2, I think late 2009 is the earliest they can be opened to public.
All station fittings, rail track being laid, electricial installation and etc on CCL Stage 3 is expected to be completed at end of 2008. Then SMRT will do trial run on Stage 3 before opening to public in mid-2009.
CCL stage 2 started work in late 2001 if I remembered correctly. Traffic in that area was extremely bad since then. Can't wait till everything is back to normal!!!
Just wondering, when the new glass doors for new entrance at Bishan MRt (NSL twd Marina Bay) are in opereation, what would happened to the twd JE one? it will be gone according to someone. If it is, that means cauction first cause it would be the station using one track for both direcion lol?

There will just be an enlarged station concourse. The two tracks will still be there, just that the southbound platform would be opposite the present one.

Erm sorry but I dont get u by "southbound platform woule be opposite the present one" do you mean a new track would be build for the southbound with the north used the southbound one?

I suggest you go down to Bishan and see.

Basically the layout of the Bishan North South line station will be like this:

- New platform for south-bound trains, which means that the current island platform in use will in the future serve north-bound trains only. This is because the current south-bound platform will be sealed once the new replacement platform on the opposite side of the southbound track opens. This means that commuters must get to the right platform in the future.
- No difference in the track layout. Trains still use the current tracks.
The Northbound platform will also be upgraded. A/C and PSDs will be installed. If you look at the platforms carefully, there are holes here and there, especially on the ceilings. Once the new SB platform opens they will start upgrading the NB platform (in stages).
For Nicoll Highway MRT station, the escalators at entrance/exit point have been installed already and are covered up with big tent above. I think they are going to construct entrance/exit box soon.
And Nicoll Highway MRT station will only have one entrance/exit point which is opposite The Concourse via overhead bridge.
Meanwhile, the exterior fittings for two of entrance/exit box for MacPherson station are almost completing. The third one will have exterior fittings being implemented sooner as its basic foundation is completed. Dakota and Mountbatten are lagging behind MacPherson and Paya Lebar in terms of construction pace.

Check out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishan_MRT_Station#Current_Station_Layout
The track for NSL along Bishan MRT station will never be altered or realigned. There is no new track for southbound train.
So this is where you will alight at opposite side which is on left side of train instead of right side of train where you are currently alight at. It's like Braddell station for Southbound train.

Actually there is nothing wrong with the current NAC layout. I don't know why SMRT wasted money on the NSL when their focus is the CCL. Then they will use the new AC Bishan station as an excuse to raise fares.
The new plan at Bishan is actually initiated by the LTA. As the LTA anticipated increased passenger flow with the Circle Line and hence possible overcrowding on the current platform, thus the south-bound platform is built to relieve congestion. Furthermore, poor ventilation on the south-bound platform meant that it (and the whole Bishan station) has to be air-conditioned. The current north-bound platform will also be upgraded as a result.
SMRT will probably use increased operating costs (due to increased train frequency) to raise fares. But not within the next few months given their "promise".

How abt Jurong East, CCK, Tanah Marah

Hello? One of the oldest stations, the station right at the heart of the NSL. One side upgrade other side must also upgrade what... if not SB platform have A/C while NB platform no A/C?
Plus, the main reason why they're doing so is to reduce the amount of suicide jumpers at Bishan. It's one of the most notorious places for suicides and they want to install PSD to prevent people from jumping.

The construction was not funded by SMRT, but by LTA, since LTA owns the station and right-of-way of all MRT lines.

Also because there is a link between J8 basement and the new platform.
Just went to Bishan station just now. The new SB platform seems ready to be in operation within a month...
They're really gonna wait until CCL opens before they open the platform?
Not likely, they still have to make the stairs and escalator linkway to the Circle line.
According to the artist impressions I saw outside the station, it should be around the lift, on the side where the old SB platform is.

I just do hope the Circle Line will be a complete circle.
It's a very useful line, as examples can be seen in Tokyo's Yamanote line or Osaka's Loop Line. [Well, these lines are heavily congested during rush hour.]
According to Wikipedia, Bangkok is extending its single subway line to form a circle too.
